Crap I hope the link works.

Full disclosure:
I likely would not set someone on fire. But I'd be tempted. It is as though his child was stolen AND I believe the judge thinks so as well.

I'm confused. How did he not know he had a kid??? As a DI, I don't think he got deployed, so. . . what's the rest of the story?

Not a lot of detail on how it happened but, were it me, I would be more than a little upset. Furious would be a more appropriate term. I might would go full Reacher on someone.

As written though, a lot of WTF in that story.

From Foxnew.com's normal site - not much more detail:

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2012/12/04/drill-instructor-reportedly-ready-for-daughter-return-in-indefensible-adoption/

EDIT TO ADD - Story from the Salt Lake Tribune -

http://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/news/55373764-78/achane-adoption-bland-child.html.csp

Basically the man was transferred and was having problems with the child's mother (his wife) and she was worried about being stuck with two kids and no dad around. They worked things out and were going to move to SC (he already had) but she put the kid up for adoption anyway. A real mess.

Maybe because the chick that he knocked up didn't tell him?

How many cases of guys finding out much later that they had children that they didn't know about because the mothers didn't tell them?

What's an Army Drill Instructor? Or is this guy in the Marines?

MARRIED. The article makes it sound like his wife signed everything for some dough. He's more than just a babydaddy.

In terms of setting fire, I'd start with the missus.

OK, here is some more detail:

Yup. I'd start with the missus. Then the agency.

I'd be interested to know WHEN he contacted the adoption agency about this. Was it a month after leaving or 5 months ago? That'd determine who I'd burn down first. Maybe it's me that needs to be burnded.

His wife was pregnant when the Army told him that he was being stationed as a drill sergeant in SC. He leaves for South Carolina, his wife remains in TX to move at a later time. Wife puts the child up for adoption and divorces him shortly after his duty station was reassigned.

The story up to the point of adoption is a pretty normal scene in the Army; so I think this man needs to be given his child back... in a hurry. The adoptive family should not be allowed to keep the child through the appeal process either.

I just looked at the photos of the biological mother and current adopted mother. I'd say hit it for the former but the latter with the crazy teeth smile? Get the kid away from her!!!

I wouldn't set anybody on fire - I'd just keep my mouth shut and mark that one a close call. Congratulations on the new child support payment Terry.

Also, the Army has drill sergeants, the Marines have drill instructors.
