I had a phone call this morning with a Brit for some business purposes. They are so great to talk to.

I think at least 10 times during the conversation, right after I said something, he replied with "brilliant". This has happened to me before when I have dealt with the Brits. They seem to think a lot of what I say is brilliant. I have never had an American say that.

I was called arrogant by an American yesterday. At least Brits recognize what they see.:whistling:

Say something brilliant, and we'll let you know.

The English "brilliant" replaced the former "thats anice" which was the approximate translation of "BS" in Eurospeak

I work with a South Afrikaner. For some reason people usually assume he knows what he's talking about because of his accent. Whenever we want to tell a client something they don't want to do we let him tell them.

OTOH, I also know a Brit lady who not at all the brightest bulb in the light string, but her accent is nice...

And I agree Scottish gals sound really nice. ;)

I've been accused of having a British accent before - but never in GB. In GB they think I am a "Yankee".

I should ask someone now... :)

Having worked with the British for 21 years,i can tell you this is the truth.

The British can be very polite and at the same time they're sharpening a knife to stab you in the back as soon as you turn your back on them..

Always remember " The Sun has never set on the British Empire because GOD never Trusted them in the dark"

Like every nationality,I've had the pleasure to work with some absolutely great British people and some real "Proper Bahstards".

As some other poster said, you can't get mad at the Scots, great people to work with, and unlike the stereotype, they are kind and generous people.

Took me me a while to understand the Scots with their Brogue, led to some fun conversations!
'Whoots the matter wi' you Lad,Dinna you speak the King's English!!??

"Not the way you speak it"

"FOOK OFF, Boy, Di ye wanna feel the Toe O' me boot!!!"

Try asking a Scot about the proper use of Wellie Boots,it's hilarious!

Next time you converse with them, tell them you have a fanny pack for your concealed carry. Let us know how they react...

Don't mean to hurt your feelings, but maybe the Brits are easily impressed.

The British accent comes in a lot of flavors, some not too grating on the nerves. I've worked with a lot of them. The one that I hated the most was a guy from Wolverhampton, The Midlands region. the most smarmy accent I've ever heard and I wanted to slap the hagis right out of him. (yeah, know hagis is Scottish, but it fits in this case)

Watch a re-run of the British comedy "Bottoms" and see if you can catch everything....tough accent there.

Not of all of them sound like John Cleese.
