View Full Version : Obama's Power Grab

President Obama went over the constitutional cliff this week, demanding more power than the U.S. Constitution allows any president to have. All Americans regardless of party affiliation should shudder at the president's attempted power grab and say no. Compromising on taxes and spending is fine, but not on the nation's bedrock principles.

Who needs Congress?! Who would step up and stop this law-breaker?

Obama is insisting that House Republicans hand over to him Congress's authority to raise the debt ceiling. Obama is demanding a power no other president has ever had — to borrow without congressional prior approval.

Many will cheer and insist upon this change. Many of his supporters are almost cult-like in their admiration of this narcissist. My neighbors are some of them (a whole family's worth); I know of what I speak.

Many will never even know it happened.

I am more frequently reminded of one of the Star Wars movie lines - "So this is how liberty dies - with thunderous applause".

All he needs to do is replace one more SCOTUS justice with one of his comrades.

He needs to be told to 'go skroo himself' early and often ... :steamed:

Obama doesn't like the constraints of the COTUS.

The Founders didn't see him coming, exactly .... but they saw the likes of him coming in the future, and wrote the Constitution accordingly.

Snerd.. I doubt anyone has placed before this august body a more sobering or a more rock-bottom important thread.

It is scary as anything to see the parasites devour our entire structure, our entire core... but to not see it constitutes a bigger fright and, in my opinion, a dereliction of civil duty.

Now, what's to be done?

Is it scarier than a presidential kill list that has no oversight?

I think it was Norman Debbs - a many time Socialist candidate for president - who said this or something very close.

Yes, it is.

So you trust someone that you fear is trying to claim dictatorial powers with the ultimate power of life and death over you?

Well, for me, what's really scary is you and I are discussing both topics involving our present <ahem> president.

All he needs is an opening in the SUPREMES to make him a true triple threat, eh?

UNPRECEDENTED.

You know, many here have said it time and time again. Obama will pass and the USA will survive and only get stronger for it.

I personally believe this country has met it's doom. Obama will be the knife to the throat of Lady Liberty, and will be cheered on as he stands over her in a pool of blood.

As to what you profess to believe- I am still and yet astounded at the followers and backing that Obama has. He is a one-man wrecking crew with enormous backing. That's really scary in the biblical and all other senses.

Obama has done his share but so have his predecessors as well as both houses of congress. Someone on here coined Obama as the closer, with which I agree.

Yep, it was many progressives in sheep's clothing that set the stage for Obama. We were asleep at the wheel, indulging in the plenty that we were offered. I do not know how we're going to fix it.

We haven't seen mass killing of political opponents yet, just lies, smears and derision by propaganda outlets to discredit them. If everything else allows him to break our country, seize everyone's savings, and become a full-fledged dictator, then laws or court rulings restricting or permitting his actions won't particularly matter.

If he labels you a terrorist and dispenses of you with a drone strike things will cease to matter for you.

I get what you're saying, I really do, but at this point I'm far more worried about being gunned down by starving citizens following an economic collapse, which is what his unchecked reckless spending and making people increasingly dependent on government is quickly bringing about.

James Waterman Wise, jr.,

"in a recent address here before the liberal John Reed club said that Hearst and Coughlin are the two chief exponents of fascism in America. If fascism comes, he added, it will not be identified with any "shirt" movement, nor with an "insignia," but it will probably be "wrapped up in the American flag and heralded as a plea for liberty and preservation of the constitution."

How do you hear me now?

This is the primary reason I bought a gun this year (my first). I can see clearly what is coming. Only a fool thinks "everything is going to be fine". It will be survival of the fittest, and best armed.
