I finally busted my 1911 CHERRY:wavey:

Thanks to BAC and all the others-you guys really help out guys like me.

Sprigfield RO:wow:http://i374.photobucket.com/albums/oo186/yellowheap/77F9D921-7925-41B8-AE5F-12EF443D3259-8664-00001CC1C5AF34F6.jpg

Just shot a few rounds at my range at the 50 yard gong-7 out of 7.
Too dark to go after the 100 yard plate.
Awesome trigger:supergrin: and solid like a bank vault.
Clean looking with classic lines.
No gun I've ever shot fits my hand like a 1911.

I was originally going to get a 1911 in the $1000 range but I needed winter work clothes(insulated bibs and more)so I traded in one of my older Glocks on it and was out the door with a bunch of ammo and the RO for less than $700.
kind of made it painless.

Congratulations on a beautiful 1911! I would also like to offer my sincere thanks to BAC. I was torn between this one and the Ruger SR1911. For me the Ruger has won out but just barely. I owe my comfort level with this decision to the through descriptions and pics provided by BAC. My decision is firm and I have complete confidence in it.

Now if I could just get some help in the finance department.......Sigh.....

Got to shoot it a bit after work today.
It is cold, snowing and windy so it was tough going:faint:
Ball and HP's fed perfectly:supergrin:
Fed AE 230 is scary good in it.

Absolutely destroyed my 100 yard plate:wow:-14"worn out concrete saw blades.
Luckily I have a bunch of them:whistling:
Going to adjust sites a bit for the 100 yard target as I basicly had to cover the entire plate to hit it and I like it to be poa=poi at that range for my shooting.

I'm happy and about to smoke a" I HAVE A 1911" stogie:wavey:

Anyone have any thought on weither I should get the .090 or .100 width front sights?
I like em skinny but is the .090 too skinny?

I am sorry that I have to inform you of very bad news.

Your choice was an excellent one but no gun enthusiast can only own one 1911.

Or two.

Or three......

the good news there are a lot worse thing in life than owning a safe full of 1911.

Welcome to the club.

"I'm already planning for another:faint:"

SEE that didn't take long!

Okie is right about getting a good holster. I prefer OWB holsters over IWB holsters. I live Wyoming where wearing a big leather belt or a Wilderness Tactical belt looks normal with Wranglers and vest or over shirt.

Steel, I've not always been Springfield's biggest fan, but the ROs seemed to me to be one of the best choices in a reasonably priced 1911, well fit, good sights, etc.

I'm using .100" front sights on a couple 5" 1911s with Bo-Mar type rear sights. Works very well, but I would not want to go any thinner on the front sight...ymmv

I completely tore down my RO today.

While a blindfolded lobotomized chimpanzee can do a Glock easily the 1911 is a bit more involved.

Actually went good till the thumb safety plunger spring shot out like an ACME ROCKET across the room:faint:
Cat earned his kibbles today as he saw it shoot out on it's way to NEVERFINDIT LAND and pounced on it so it was easy to find.
After that I was back on track and got it all cleaned up.

It's kind neat to see how it works, pretty simple really.
