In found a few of these yesterday . Are they a decent lower or do I steer clear, their finish felt kinda rough, it was a lil more than a Parkerized finish . They're about $100 each. I've bought the last 2 S&W lowers they had.

$100 for a new lower is a decent price. So long as they are in-spec, a lower is a lower except for markings.

No experience with Core parts, so I can't speak to quality. Since it sounds like you're buying from a local store, ask if they will let you get a refund if it's out of spec.

How do I determine if its in spec? I'm getting ready to do 3 builds this spring and was gonna go ahead get them instead of waiting due to certain issues .

Easiest way?

Build it up.

Either that, or look up the proper measurements and get to work with a pair of calipers to check them yourself.

They are supposed to be mil spec per their website. We shall see....

That has nothing to do with them being in spec or out of spec. All it takes is a machine being loaded with the wrong dimensions, a worn milling bit, or any of several other potential hiccups to put a lower out of spec and make it worthless.

If you are talking about Core 15 out of Ocala Fl, they are a good lower and they make good AR parts. A lot of their product is made in house. Everything is mil-spec. I'll be going by there later this week and getting one of their "gator" lowers, and an upper receiver, along with some other build parts.

I'm gonna go pick up a core 15 tomorrow, its only a $100 bucks. I've pi$$ed away more playing in a casino. If it doesn't work out they will warranty it or so they claim . I'll post some pics when I pic it up....

I have one laying around. I picked it up at my local gun store for $95 about a year ago. My Daniel Defense upper and a Vltor Mur1 upper fit perfectly on it with no noticable play. I also like the finish of this lower receiver. There are absolutely no flaws in the machining, fit, and finish. I really like this lower so far, except of the roll marks which look a little silly if you ask me, one of the engravings says: "Good Time Outdoors, inc". But I can't tell how well the parts kit will fit though.

The one I built on was perfect.

The anodizing was very uniform and thick with a nice dry teflon finish as well.. quality was very good.

Yes it felt a bit rough but a coat of oil it smooths out.
