1) Is there any way I can join the NRA and NOT receive their tons of junk mail and crap. It's a waste of their resources sending me all that stuff anyway.

2) Is there someplace where I can punch in my address or something and get a list of all of my reps of all kinds who I need to send letters to? I'm wiling to write letters if I could get the addresses and names.

Thanks.

I have a friend who is an active, donating member of the NRA and he frequently complains about the fund raising letters and phone calls.

As I have told him several times when they call same "no thank you but I'm not interested" and then hang up.
Unwanted mail goes directly into the garbage.

The NRA obviously uses this as a much needed source of revenue and that's great but you are NOT required to donated every time that you receive a fund raising letter.

Yes you can request that they don't send you a bunch of junk mail.

^ Thanks. I joined a few minutes ago. I'll get a live person on the phone tomorrow and see if I can get them to not send me all their crap.

NRA has a "do not solicit" list
this reduces the amount of junk mail to only one or two items a year.

Before i got on the list, they sent me a DVD, and I promptly trashed it. When i started getting invoices for the DVD, I got angry. I had to write to them to finally get them to stop.

This year I upgraded from Life to Endowment, and within a few weeks, another DVD arrived. Into the trash it went, along with all my other junk mail. I started receiving "invoices" for the DVD that I did not request.

I got on the phone this time. I called the number on the solicitation, and asked where I can cancel my membership.
They asked why, and I told them that I was receiving items I did not request, along with invoices for them. I told her I joined to support my 2nd amendment rights, not to get junk mail. I told her to use the money toward the cause, not wasting it on sending me mail i will never read.

When I told her I was angry about the DVD "scam" she told me that there is a 2nd "do not solicit" list that is for the DVDs. She apologized (even though it was not her fault) and added me to the additional do not solicit list.

I told her to put me on every do not solicit list they have. I have given them a ton of money, and will continue to do so, but only on my terms. When I have spare money, I will send it when I see fit. I don't need daily reminders in the mail. Spend the money on the cause, not on fundraising.

Just a forewarning you that adding yourself to the main do not promote list does not keep them from sending you everything.

Folks, thanks for this thread. I got so fed up with all the junk and spam that I didn't renew. Now, I really want to re-join but only if I will not get all the crap.

Dude, I can SO relate. I refused to re-up for the same reason.

I've rejoined because I feel it is very important. But I will start work to stop their freakin junk mail tomorow.

No matter what they keep calling me. I requested that they stop and I still got all kinds of calls this voting season from them. I just quit answering the phone when I see the number.

I'm actually very close to their headquarters. Maybe a personal visit will carry more weight.
