I bought my first AR15 today (Armalite). I'll pick it up tomorrow and will take it to the range later this week. I am so excited, well, until the wife finds it (good luck on that since she doesn't know the combo to the safe).

Thanks. I traded a couple of safe-queens for it and ended up paying $25 out of pocket for it. I am very excited. Now for all the myriad modifications that I've seen...

Shoot the crap out of it, and learn to run the gun before you look at mods. It helps to figure out what you really want and need first.

True enough, but ammo is HARD to find right now sadly. Shooting the crap out of it is gonna take some time....

Yeah I have been practicing my "bang" sound so I can fake shoot mine in my back yard

I just sold 2 today because of all of the politics surrounding the platform. It took all of the fun out of out for me to pay 50 cents to pull the trigger and have to "horde"mags that are about to be banned (thanks spineless GOP). Luckily now I have money for more pistols and bolt actions.

Seriously? A bill hasn't even been introduced into the House or senate, and you are already throwing in the towel?

Congrats. My AR's are my favorite guns. Great time to buy one if you don't have one!!

Congrats, and take good care of it! Order some spare parts for yours while you can! It might be your last one. I have a feeling that my next AR will be a AR-15 style muzzle loader with an fake magazine made of ABS plastic glued on to the lower receiver which is a fake as well.

Wow... That kind of rhetoric will have you someday saying: "I just sold my pistols and bolt actions seeing as they are about to be banned- luckily now I have money for sling shots and Supersoakers"

A wee bit premature I would say but if that is what you thought best then more power to you. What type of bolt action are you shooting for less than .50 per round? I would guess a WWII era gun maybe? Just curious. :dunno:

It starts with one.

Then, you'll want a middie.

Then you'll start drooling at the SBR's.

One day you'll ask, "if only they made those in 9mm" and a voice will answer "They do!"

And on, and on ...

I'm already on the SBR bandwagon. A buddy of mine is a manufacturer and has his mfg license for all sorts of toys - and he specializes in SBRs for AR platforms. I'm already getting my paperwork together for this.

Somewhere I read that AR's are like crack. I now see why. :tongueout:

You need a second one. That way you can sit in between them and be mid-evil.

HR 6680 was introduced by Representative Bobby Rush (D) Illinois on 12/18/2013 and referred to the House Judicuary Committee.

I stand corrected, then. The Feinstein bill isn't planned to be introduced until the new session in January, so I wasn't checking on other bills. No text available yet online, unfortunately. Good news is that the House judiciary committee is HEAVILY Republican, so they have a chance to either kill it early, or gut it to the point that the Dems won't care.
