recoil spring question

Hi everybody, can anyone help with a question?---I have an A2 buttstock assembly that came on a Bushmaster lower mated to an A1 upper set up with a 16" barrel. This was a Clinton Ban compliant rifle from Bushmaster made ~ 1999. Does the recoil spring and buffer need to be changed if I put a mid-length gas system upper receiver assembly on this lower? No. In a rifle extension, you should stick to a rifle buffer and spring.
