If this doesn't show you how screwed up this country is in understanding how disfunctional the news media is, nothing will:

http://mediadecoder.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/12/19/at-news-conference-reporters-skip-past-gun-control-and-face-instant-criticism/

His words, after five days of extensive news coverage and national debate, were intensely focused on gun violence. He addressed no other topics. Yet judging by the questions that followed his address, most of the members of the Washington press corps had other things on their minds...
Translation: They didn't do what Obama wanted.

What's really amazing is reading some of the NYTimes' reader comments...

Absolutely disgraceful! Like watching the Media cavalierly flip the channel to something easier to discuss. The President should have refused to answer that first Fiscal Cliff question and firmly suggested that those financial questions be addressed on a different day at a different press conference.

This country wouldn't be in the mess it's in if weren't for an irresponsible, technically incompetent, fake-balancing, false-equivalencing, cowardly press.

The press doesn't do what Obama would like, so they're criticized by the liberal press watchers and the NY Times readers. :faint:

Perhaps if Obama had given a few press conferences dealing with the Fiscal Cliff and Benghazi the press corps could have focused on his gun-control rant.

Why aren't these people complaining about that?

Morons.

Reminds me of the reporters who were caught on tape a couple months ago coordinating an attack on Romney before a press conference. They're supposed to be making every politician's life a nightmare by competing against each other for scoops on stories.

The news says a record number of reporters are being held in prisons around the world.

I say, it's a start.
