View Full Version : Brownell's on PMAG Situation: "3.5 Years Worth of Orders in 72 hours"
Guns.com reports that Bronwnells spokesman Jason Corpus said:
"I wanted to take a minute to shed some insight on the magazine situation if I can. First of all I wanted to offer an apology for the situation... with magazines being 'In-Stock' and back-ordered moments later... [The] demand for magazines actually exceeded the ability for the system to keep up with the volume that was being ordered."
"To shed some more light on the magazine situation at present, it really has been unprecedented in the last 5 days. During a roughly 72 hour period...we sold the 'average demand' equivalent of about 3.5 years worth of PMAGS, and an even greater amount of our Brownell's magazines."
It would appear that there will be a long, long wait for backordered PMAGs, folks.
Pmag are proof once again that if you create a superior product the world will come running with cash in hand.
I hope the owners of Magpul have already become rich beyond words...
They deserve it.

PMags are good stuff, but they aren't sold in such quantities because of the quality.

+1
And hopefully they can afford to double their production

The problem for Magpul of course is that they will be forced to make decisions about production capacity in the face of possible legislation that would prohibit sales to the average private gun owner.
How much $$$ would you invest in increased production capacity?

Why would you say they sell the volume they do?
Cost?

Nope. Fanboys. :whistling:
I'm a fan.
I have a box of GI Issue 20's and 30's but if I were going where I thought I might need to use my AR then the Pmags would be my choice.

I'm a fan.
I am, too. :wavey:
That wasn't meant to be insulting to anyone. They're dependable, durable, and right now, nearly priceless.
Magpul makes a great product.

I have used PMAGs but I much prefer GI mags, specifically 20 NHMTGs.
Pmags are bulkier than GI mags. The 20 round pmags have way more issues than they should with reliable feeding.

damn wonder when yesterdays pre order may ship?
does that mean they had 3.5 years worth sitting around?

I ordered 4x 7.62 NATO Pmags from a site, thought I was good. I received 1 and on my invoice they wrote 3 Backordered. Guess I got literally the last 1, DOH! :crying:
Funny how yesterday some people were trashtalking Brownells on mag orders being cancelled. Their system was overwhelmed. I was ordering non ban affected parts yesterday and they had me long in after I was already logged in.
I wonder if Magpul runs their injection machine in batches. Say Pmags today, buttstocks tommorrow or if they have dedicated machines pumping out mags.
I suspect if they just run a couple of shifts or switch over to 12s vs. 8s they can increase production. I just wonder if they do everything in house. I can see the springs being contracted out.
Even if mags are made illegal you know there will be LE/Mil sales and then replacement part will be still available. Then there is the fact that they can still sell stocks, forends, and other stuff even after a ban. And if it is like the last ban or the CA AWB they can have new products to sell to skirt the law.
My order for Pmags from Brownells arrived today, complete.
Thanks, Brownells!

I use Brownells all of the time as they are local to me. I just ordered a 10 pack of their mags for $13.99 each. I respect the fact that they didn't jack with the price so backorder or otherwise, they have my business.
When did you place your order?
Monday afternoon.

I ordered 5 ten packs from them on Wednesday. Who knows when I will receive them. Hopefully, it will happen.
I ordered their pack of 10 pmags Monday evening and haven't seen anything from them since the original confirmation email. We'll see how it goes. At the same time, I ordered 2 (the max they would sell at one time) from MidwayUSA and received them Thursday.

In the event of a magazine size restriction being put into place, pMag will be busier than ever. Without milsurp stoner type mags entering the market, what else are you going to use? IIRC Magpul already makes 10 round mags to serve the communist states.

I ordered 10 of the Brownells brand mags on Sunday. The next day was emailed that they were backordered. Today I was notified they shipped. No price gouging.

Perhaps the commie-crats should consider all these orders as also committed voters against them .
.
Wouldn't it be funny if they planned this as a back-door stimulus to give an end-of-year bump to the economy?
"Let's talk about a gun ban, that'll really get the money moving in the economy."

Didn't magpul cease production on the colored pmags, and only making black ones for now?

I don't really care about the length of the back-order, they are just to be put back anyways . I only ordered ten. My only hope is that if there is a ban they charge our credit cards before that date so the sale is made before the ban date.
All my Circle K mags just breathed a sigh of relief.
They knew I was thinkin about "upgradin", too late now.
