After reading the review over on Military Morons of this little 2450 lumen (no typo) handheld searchlight, I was expecting a price similar to the Surefire UDR Dominator (four figure price tag)...

But these are flying of the shelves for below 300$ at the moment.

However, if you go to the illuminationsupply.com website NOW, (I am in no way affiliated), and happen to know of a certain discount code (cough...DAYLIGHTUSA....cough), it ships to you with 4 top quality 18650 rechargeables and an intelligent universal charger, for dos senores Benjamin...

Try to keep this to yourself...

Of course at most places, it is already $299 all the time.

Oh. That makes it different then. A $200 light with only 2450 lumens would have been stupid. The marketing on the website didn't make that clear.

Here are the specs from what I dug up.

Turbo: 2450 lumens (1 hour)
High: 1300 lumens (3 hours, 10 minutes)
Mid: 570 lumens (8 hours, 20 minutes)
Low: 300 lumens (16 hours, 30 minutes)
Lower: 95 lumens (52 hours)

300 lumens for 16 hours with a rechargable battery is pretty epic.

Then well have the anti-light crowd screaming for reasonable light restrictions. If candle light was good enough for those many decades it should still be good enough. Only maniacs would want that much light. Ban all but candles, it's for the children.

Anyone familiar with the brand or where it be made at?

NiteCore is a very well known brand name, and very highly regarded at candlepowerforums.com. Not as popular, or as many models at the Fenix line, but still a very well thought of brand name.

Like the Fenix line, the Nitecore flashlights are made in China.

I like the Nitecore flashlights a LOT: I have 7 of them. In the winter, I usually have 3 of them with me.

The Cree XM-L that the 2450 lumen TK15 uses is the very latest, brightest, and most efficient LED emitter available. Relatively few flashlights use them, so far. Most of the nicer LED flashlights, except the newest and more expensive models are still using the Cree XP-G R5 or S2 LED emitters.

If you see an inexpensive flashlight that claims to be using the Cree XM-L it either 1) Simply uses a cheaper LED emitter. What is a little fraud, from China, these days? Business as usual. Or 2) It may have a Cree XM-L LED emitter, but it has a tint that is so poor, (green) the tier 1 flashlight manufacturers simply won't use them, AND/or the vF is so poor, the efficiency (lumens per watt of current used) is so poor, the tier 1 flashlight manufacturers simply won't use them.

Tried mine out last night, glad I picked it up.
I looked at this light when it first came out but didn't want to pay the $ for what at the time was unknown/untested.

Time passed, the light has held up and company gotten favorable reviews, so I grabbed the deal.

This will make a good addition to my collection.
An added bonus is the threaded hole on one side. If so inclined you can put it on a camera tripod (I have a mini-tripod with extendable legs perfect for it).

The switch is complex (if you want to learn all the modes) but works easily enough to turn the light on/off.

It does push the beam far down the field, better than a light I have that is brighter.

Question for those that got this. I thought mine was defective, because it worked, then stopped. Worked then stopped. What I figured out is that if the battery compartment was not cranked really tight, basically until the threads stop with force, then it stopped working. Not like say a maglite where you could loosen the threads a quarter turn or so and it would work. With mine, once it's tightened all the way, if it's backed off even an 1/8 of a turn, it no longer works.

Is there something off on mine, or is this how they all are working?

Other than that, I love it. It's not light or small (not a pocket lite), but man, the thing is bright for its size.

Your's doesn't have to be cranked really tight to make contact? Will it still work if once tightened as far as it will go, if you back it off a bit?

try meritline . com and check out LED lights. Sort by price and see the knockoffs. The prices are right though.

I need slightly more of a turn to achieve lockout, but i dont need to crank down very hard to achieve a connection. In fact a lot of users on the CPF forums seem to prefer the manual lockout to holding down the power button for 2 seconds or so. You may want to add just a little bit of lube to the threads.

Edited to add: check that the o ring is still in place. You should also have received a spare.

It just has to be turned snug and it works. At least mine does.

I tighten it all the way (snug) but don't try to weld it with the force. Just snug.

Two little things that surprise me to this day:
The lens is so clear that it sometimes looks like the glass just fell out, really...
The quality of the beam. Almost no hint at all that this is a 3 led scalloped reflector.

the irony is that you'll most likely cause the first lost and injured scout incident when you accidentally blind one with that beast of a light and the poor kid stumbles off a cliff or something. lol

^^
