As I was getting my rifles cleaned for a range day tomorrow I managed to loose the magazine release pin out of my 10/22. I couldn't wait for a parts kit to come in from midway so I started scavenging for something to use as a replacement, and it turns out the shaft from a dremel tool is perfect! Not only is it the proper size, it is soft enough to cut with wire cutters. Now you can put those old grinding bits to good use.

Very cool! If they will work under recoil is the real question. From what I understood, the pins are the correct size to allow for some slop (wiggle room) to let moving parts to maintain function. Not to mention how bad it would suck to be shooting and have a pin break...now that would be a nightmare. However in a pinch I really like the idea, plus those pins would be really nice to hold parte in place while reassembling the trigger housing.

I used drill bits and cut them the right length. Never have had a problem with them.

Yep, been using them as slave pins for re-assembly for years.

Will be giving this a try!! My bolt release pin is about 1/18th short and finds its way out of the assembly constantly

Just fired 500 rounds today and it looks like it's holding up perfectly fine.

Will be using some of my dremel pieces then to replace a few short factory pins! Thanks for the update
