Can't handle seeing grown ups using such juvenile lingo on posts on a gun forum. But then what can you expect from a generation that supports homo marriage.

Apparently there aren't any afeminate gay people in your area, or you'd really be pissed. There are a limited amount of "Smilies" on the board, you do your best with them to try to get a point a across that may not be available in plain text.

The "Smilies" have nothing to do with an affinity for shag or poo poking.

I am thinking it is at least a decade since I have heard or read the word "lingo." And it seems to me the last time I heard it used before today it was being used to describe slang phrases or "lingo" used as euphemisms for publicly admitting and proclaiming that one was homosexual. If I recall one of the most favorite of the various "lingo" was "coming out of the closet."

What is funniest about this is that the OP is using Outdoor Hub Campfire (Tapatalk), which doesn't show the emoticons. It seems he thinks "Wavey" and "Whistling" are actually commonly used words around here.

They are called emoticons. They can alter the "tone" of messages left in threads.

Let me demonstrate.

Don't be a dumbass :steamed:

and

Don't be a dumbass

Here we display two different ways to express one sentence. Using the "steamed" emoticon we can infer that that this particular reply is serious and therefore the poster really thinks you're a dumbass. Conversely the "supergrin" emoticon is easily construed as a friendly jab or an attempt a sarcasm with no ill will.

Either way you're a dumbass but at least you now understand the other poster's intent.
