Need help with truglo - red dot

My grandson has asked me to help him mount a Red Dot on his Savage model 62/64. Usualy this would not be a problem but the groves on the barrell are not even close to allowing me to tighten down the scope.

I could not find any scope rings big enough to go around the unit Anybody have any ideas on how to mount this to his rifle?

Greatly appreciate any thoughts and input.

Drill and tap the reciever, use weaver style base.

Weaver style base clamps onto grooved receiver:
