Anyone have any experience with one of these 1911's from Sig?

http://www.sigsauer.com/CatalogProductDetails/1911-tactical-operations.aspx

I'm looking for your feedback on this 1911 and the Sig line of 1911's as a whole. Obviously they're no Wilson or Brown but as far as a production gun, They don't seem too bad.

I'd like to hear from you 1911 guys and see what you think about them.

Thanks everyone!

I have one and I love it. I had a Wilson CQB that I traded for an RCP and and AR pistol. This pistol equals the CQB in my opinion at 1/3 the price!!!

Happy New Year!!!!!

That's good to hear. I like encouraging news like that. Have you had a chance to run any defensive ammo in it? If so, did you have any issues with it?

Despite the over optimistic view above, Sig does make a solid 1911. While they aren't exactly my cup of tea, I do own an STX and its been a good shooter.

Im a big fan of the Sig 1911 line, I have shot some but not this one yet. Im looking forward to giving this one a try. Is there any ranges in your area that may have this or another Sig 1911 to test out. I haven't shot a Sig 1911 that I didnt like. The only thing I would say negative for me is the grips, Im more of a rubber grips guy for 1911's.

I had zero FTF in the Wilson and zero FTS in the Sig Tac Ops. 1200 rds of just about everything thru the Wilson, about 500 of a good mix of ball and defensive ammo(Corbon DPX are my defense round) thru the Sig. Fit and function is perfect. Sig makes a great 1911.

My apologies bac1023 if I offended your Wilson collection.:rofl::tongueout:

As long as a firearms I use for duty goes bang every time I pull the trigger, I don't care how much or how little it costs. My days of being wealthy stopped on Nov 8th, 2008!!!!!

I have a brand new traditional compact carry sitting on a shelf, haven't shot it yet as it it too cold for me to want to go out and shoot. I think it is a well put together pistol. If I was to buy another, I would be looking at the Sig first.

No offense meant, my friend.

Sig makes a very good 1911 these days. Glad you like it. :)

The Sig style 1911s are great shooters! Had an early "manhole cover"
GSR reverse two-tone. Very well made, great trigger, super accurate.

I didn't want a rail on my Sig, so I opted for a Traditional reverse 2-tone. I've shot it on two occasions and I'm very pleased. Shooting 200 grain SWC's over Win 231 yesterday, I was getting nice tight groups at 25 yards offhand - about half my shots went through a large ragged hole. The fit and finish are very good. I'd buy another one without hesitation.

I would have gone the traditional route if they were around when I bought mine.

Does the Sig TacOps 1911 come with two or four mags?

On the Sig website, it says four. But at a local shop here, and on some other sites like Buds, it says two mags. I'm confused.

Hmmm ... what gives with certain places like my local shop saying that it only comes with two mags then? If it comes with only two, should I be asking for a discount?

I wouldn't buy from your local shop. They stole 2 mags out of the case and then lied to you about doing so. Other places sell that gun. When I bought my XDm9 a few years ago, they were, per Springfield to come with 2 extra mags for free. IN THE BOX. Went to one shop and I knew the drill, but when I asked about the 2 extra mags, he acted like I must have been misinformed. I knew I was not. Went to the next shop and there the mags sat, in the box. No questions asked. None needed. The previous dealer was obviously selling the extra mags, as even then they were $35 each.

Hilton Yam ran one through its paces awhile back. IIRC, he said that the small parts were of good quality and the only downside was that it couldn't pass the no mag extractor test. Also, I remember Richard Heinie writing that he bought three Sig 1911s off of Gunbroke and said the he thought the guns were pretty decent.

The only thing to me is there aren't many holsters made for the gun so I would make sure I could get my favorite holsters for it before purchasing.

I noticed today that the gun is actually named TacPac. Apparently (according to some other forum chatter), TacPac comes with two mags only. It's priced at $899. Too expensive?
