I don't get it. As soon as New Year's happened, I heard lots of cheering and fireworks, gun shots, etc.

From my perspective, 2013 is going to be worse than 2012.

Let's see.

Starting today, a bunch of new taxes are going to hit us. (Yea, that's right, cheer for those higher taxes, you morons.)

We have a fiscal cliff coming up with no real solution to it except new taxes. We have tons of rising national debt with no end in sight. We have an out of control government that spends money like a drunken whore, and we can't manage to achieve even a real 1% cut in spending on anything meaningful.

What else? We have a huge and unprecedented pending gun ban, fueled by emotional little liberal a## holes. We have an impotent economy, divided nation, and a dysfunctional government. We have millions of people out of work, and no solution for that either except extended government handouts.

But hooray for 2013! Let's light off some colorful explosives and drink some booze! :ack:

Maybe they are just trying to forget their problems for a couple hours and just having a little fun. You've never gotten drunk and lit fireworks??

I don't care who ya are, that's about the best example of hypocritical irony I've seen in a LONG time!

2013 is going to suck on so many fronts; it will go down in history as a year of epic negative change in world history...

The thing to cheer about is that we dodged an atlatl on the Mayan calendar thing, we're all still alive and we have a chance to fix things. That's worth celebrating. ;)

There is air in my lungs and a path before my feet.

Don't forget over half of those celebrating voted for Obama. They're happy because in the coming years he's going to give them even more free stuff, stick it to those nasty evil Republicans, tax the greedy rich out of existence, and boldly lead America into a socialist brave new world.

Why? Because for all the problems we have that are fixable this is still one of the greatest places to live on Earth. I have been around this blue ball enough to appreciate what I have.

I'm happy to be looking at a new year and not having to ever go back to sea. I'm on my last shore duty assignment and I have three years to enjoy it before I retire.

Me and the wife are working (she's actually working too much, mandatory OT). Heck, I've already scored on one of my '13 gun purchases that I was going to make this year.

The government has always sucked and will continue to suck long after we're gone, need to get over the doom and gloom and live while you can.

Why is everyone excited about 2013?
Why not be excited?

It was probably pretty exciting on the Titanic to.

Because I'll be taking more trips, buying more knives (and maybe guns, if I find something that really speaks to me), and furthering my education.

Why shouldn't I be looking forward to the new year?

I feel for you Landmonster. Is hard for a conservative gun enthusiast to put a positive spin on things. I'll be looking into some extra strength anxiety meds. I just don't want to give a **** about anything.

All those issues are legit, no doubt. I'm looking forward to the challenges ahead. Others can *****, whine and sit on their a%% and complain, I'll keep the train moving ahead and growing even more than 2012.

To each their own, this is my outlook for 2013. We are not without opportunities people, open your eyes, they are out to be taken advantage of.

And the other half may have been celebrating their survival of 2012.

CONGRATULATIONS, BROTHER!!! YOU GO, MAN!!!
I crossed over, six years ago! It has been awesome! Talk about time flying! I can't believe its been six years. It feels liked maybe three. Talk about perspective. Everything is better!
I do miss the camaraderie, tho.
My friend told me that I could be a great recruiter, for the Navy. I told him he was nuts! He explained that I could give people a whole different perspective, on life..... you think your life sucks, huh? Give me four years and I'll show you how much more life can really suck

Gareth68 and dango said it best. Very nice posts.

And then come the "take my guns away" nuts and the insufferable "I hate Obama's guts" whiners.

"What I make of it, is on me."

"The BEST to you and your's for another priceless day unfolds before you!"

Those are the people I like to listen to, and who I respect.

A wise man once told me, that there are two types of problems in the world. Those you can fix, and those you can't fix.

If you can fix it, you don't need to worry about it. If you can't fix it, there isn't any point in worrying about it.

Long story short. Do what you can politically (vote for the right people, make donations) but aside from that it doesn't do any good to worry about what the government is going to do.

Is 2013 going to be rough? Yea I think so. But if I only looked at the negatives in life, there wouldn't be a reason to get out of bed.
