I for one don't, Ive worked every new years eve. Pretty much a guarantee i will. I know a lot of people love new years as a big party day. remember doing an hour of dishes.

Then theres the fact it means nothing. Except people will clog my gym for a couple months before quitting their resolution. I mean, its a new year, thats it. Calendar flipped over. Its kind of like everyone loves fridays and tgif crap, friday its almost guarnteed as a work day.

It doesn't mean much to me either. If I want to make an improvement, I will make an improvement, I don't need a calendar mark to motivate me.

Now the Friday thing... I am on board with that as long as it is Friday AFTER work.

Nope. Just another day to me.

It doesn't make any difference to me either. I've worked many a NYE and I'm not very traditional anyhow. I always figure that the new year will be here when I wake up and if it isn't, well then, I didn't lose any sleep.

It's a paid day off for me.

Other than spending some time with friends and family, no.

New Years Eve is rookie party night, and a great night to get DUI'd.

I went to bed last night at 11:15PM.
That's how much this crap means to me.

For me it's pretty much just another day. Have been putting in a lot of hours at the jobsite, so a day off was welcome and I caught up with dishes, laundry and general house cleaning today......plus some beer drinking...

Was in bed last night well before midnight. Couldn't see the sense of schlepping down to the river front to see a lot of drunks in the cold rain here in Riga.

I work unusual hours, 05:00 to 13:30 so I was in bed by 19:00 and up at my normal 03:00 so no New Years celebration for me. Though it is a paid day off and I plan on watching some bowl games, but other than that, just another day.

To me it means nothing.

Neither does my birthday.

I've never been a big New Years guy either. I absolutely love the whole Thanksgiving to Christmas season. But the absolute last thing I would want to do is go out on New Years. It's like amateur night. Full of troublesome drunks and the overly sentimental. And cops everywhere. Just seems like a the worst possible night one could choose to go out. So I hunker down with the Mrs and enjoy a quint evening. I'm rarely even up by the time midnight hits on New Years.

I have always thought NYE was a stupid holiday. When I was younger, and would go out to parties, I never understood the screaming, noise making, and jumping around associated with the clock striking midnight (or the inevitable 2 AM fisticuffs that happened EVERY YEAR in my neck of the wood). In my opinion the source for both (celebrating and fighting) was nothing.

I prefer to stay home with my wife and little ones (6,4,& 21 months) , and I do enjoy watching them jumping around and making noise.

It's just the day the Feds start a new years effort to get rid of our present freedoms. Whittle enough and pretty soon the stick is gone.

I've never been 'big' on celebrating a New Year, although, I'm glad that 2012 is behind me.

2012 was a pretty bad year.
Lost my Dad.
My dog got sick, again, and we've struggled to keep him alive.
My Mom got sick again. Every day is another fight.
This Bovine Scatology of trying to rape the 2A is depressing.
And to close out the year. . . . I scuffed 1/4 of the cornea off of my left eye!!!!!:steamed:
What a pain!!
Puts new meaning into - "Blind in one eye, and can't see out of the other."
:whistling:

There are some good things to the New Year -
I've got 6 weeks of vacation on the book!
I've got 9 holidays ahead of me!
I've got a job.

Happy New Year, everyone.

This is how it is with me. No more New Year's Eve parties. Not in a long time. But I do enjoy Thanksgiving through Christmas.

as a holiday, it's right down there with bastille day, or arbor day.

Bunch of party poopers here.

We made it thru another year on this crazy earth and are embarking on the next. Some people like to celebrate that...

FWIW, I was in bed at 9:30. My stepping out days are behind me.

It gives me an excuse to cook a more elaborate dinner than normal for the misses and I after the kids go to bed... other than that we went to bet at 10:45 and only briefly woke up at 12:00 due to all of the neighborhood idiots setting off fireworks
