I was watching Fox news, and they were interviewing some people outside a sports bar in Sacramento. Last night before midnight there was a fight and a shooting that left two people dead.

They were interviewing a chick when some guy pokes his head on camera, and says, "Pop, pop, pop, pop, it sounded like a Glock".

Even my wife said, "what does a Glock sound like?"

no video, http://www.foxnews.com/us/2013/01/01/sacramento-police-say-2-dead-3-hurt-in-shooting/

If it had a "military style flash hider" or "that shoulder thing that goes up" it's even deadlier!

Last night, when my whole neighborhood was blasting fireworks into the atmosphere, one of my nearest neighbors said it sounded like Howitzer's going off, I asked if he had ever heard a Howitzer, his reply: "well, no, but I'm sure it's close..."

Sucks that the media would print that.

"Pop, pop, pop, pop, it sounded like a Glock".

It's almost amazing how people who know nothing about guns make statements like this and people who know even less publish it as "news" and how people who know nothing about nothing gobble it up as gospel and pass it on to their even less informed friends.

The media uses terms like "Glock" or "Bushmaster" to make any shooting sound much more ominous to the general public than just "handgun" or "rifle".

I was at a range in Fl with a friend a few years back, him shooting his G17 me my P99. We were side by side and using the same ammo supply.

The range officer (I'll just call him Tex....little man with big revolver open carried) came over to me and gave me a dressing down for rapid firing.

I tried to explain that we were both taking measured shots between each others shots they were both 9mm pistols with the same ammo and barrel length, and he was mistaken that it was just me rolling. I even gestured at our targets showing the same number of holes.

He knew what he heard.

Jackhole.

I don't miss going to the range.

Very amusing story.

Back about 10 years ago I was at an indoor range trying out some new ammo in my Sig 229-9mm.

I had one box of Sellier & Bellot and one box of Fiochi, both FMJ rounds.

After a while another shooter cam over to my booth and asked me what caliber of guns was I shooting?

He said by the sound of the rounds he thought for sure that I had been shooting at least TWO guns.

Can we all agree that a 9mm goes pew, pew, pew, a .45 goes bang, bang, bang, and a 10mm goes ka**********boom, ka**********boom, ka**********boom ?

Is there any way I can make my Glock sound like a hi-point or a Jennings or something? At least then the blame would be going the right direction in most cases. (Uh oh, I said that out loud) :)

As you will recall, John McClane said in "Die Hard 2", the Glock 7 (sic) , which costs more than an airport police captain makes in a month, is made of porcelain and is therefore invisible to metal detectors...

So, of course it would produce a unique audio signature.

Don't you guys know anything???
