I have an 03 F150 4x4 that has this annoying door Chime that dings any time the driver door is opened. Nothing is left on but it just dings no matter what. I want to Know how to make this stop.

Lights on or key in the ignition?

It would appear the that GEM, DDM, or FEM (depending on how your vehicle is configured) still thinks the key is in the ignition. There are other things the can cause the said condition but this is the most likely cause.

Try a shot of PB Blaster or equivalent into the tumblers for ignition and work the key in and out a few times. The micro switch may be sticky.

If this doesn't cure it, you will need to find someone with a a NGS or IDS scanner that can read all the body modules to find out what it sending the signal to activate the chime.

No keys in the ignition it just does it regardless. It is annoying and I want it to stop

I feel like disabling the chime would be the easiest solution. Is there a way to do that?

This disables the bell for everything, seatbelts, door ajar, etc. Be sure to read the "Tips and Warnings" toward the bottom of the page.

ETA: The seatbelt light, door ajar light, and fuel door open light still work, but no more noise.

Thanks for that help. That worked to disable the bell for the seat belts but not for the door ajar

I know. But if the micro switch is stuck, it will act like the key is still in there.

I'd at least give NEOH212s advice a shot. We've had this happen on a few fleet trucks and a shot of pb blaster into the key slot and working the key has fixed the issue.

I'm thinking its the lock catch mechanism . I think my 98 did the same thing and a lil bit of spray lube on it was the fix ...

I agree, check ford enthusiast websites.. there is some good info there..

Take the guage cluster out of the dash, take the covers off, plug it back in and locate the little noise maker that's on the printed circuit board.

Carefully take a pair of pliers and twist it off (it's soldered on).

Now your life is free of that little satanic annoyance for good.

So I tried this today and kept turning the key and pushing in the pin to no avail. The dern thing just wouldnt pop out. Then while wiggling the key and pushing with all my might the dinging stopped. Now it wont even ding with the key left in the ignition. I have no idea what happened or if it will start up again but for now I have peace and quiet.

upon further review the door chime seems to be working exactly like it's supposed to. I guess the PB blaster worked I just didnt jiggle the ignition switch enough.

Ok so the PB Blaster was not a permanent fix but here is what was. Take the bottom of the steering column off. It's only three screws. It won't come off all the way because of the steering wheel lever but that is ok. There will be a black wire with a pink tracer that connects to the ignition cylinder housing. Disconnect this wire problem solved
