If you want to stand up and join the NRA they have extended the $300 life membership offer. You can now sign up online at

www.nra-2013.org

You need a sponsor to get the $300 "gift" membership

Here's how.

1.Find a life member or higher.
2. Get their membership number, zip code and email.
3. Go to the above website and use the above info to sign in. The security code they ask for is on the sign in page in a box to the right.
4. Hit the continue button
5. Skip the second page by hitting the continue button again
6. Under the Select A Gift Membership information line, use the draw down menu and check $300 Life Member.
7. Fill out the rest with your information
8. Hit the "Review and complete your transaction" button
9. Use your own info in the "Billing Info" section and then pay with your credit card

PM me if you need a sponsor.

PS.
You can also get a $20 membership this way as well.

I've got about two years left on my current three year membership. Can this deal be used to upgrade to a life? Or some other discounted deal? Thanks

I didn't see anything about upgrading on the website.

You can call them at 1-800-855-NRA-2013 and ask if they will credit your existing membership toward the $300 gift membership. Remember that this is a gift membership that you are using someone else's membership to give to yourself.

I've purposely not upgraded to a life member because I figure they get MORE money from me if I pay them every few years to renew - and I want to give them more money, not less.

I forget to donate regularly. :shakehead:

Are there other reasons to become a life instead of renewing every 3-5 years like I currently do?

Life members get to vote and you can still donate all the money you want. They are happy to remind you on a regular basis.

(I think 5 year members get to vote also)

You get a cool Life Member Patch and sticker. I got a Life member hat but that was over 20 years ago so I don't know what they give now.

You can upgrade to Endowment Member for only $250 right now.

They give you special life member deals.

Once you are a lifer you don't have to mess with renewing anymore.

It shows commitment to the cause.

Chicks dig it.

$300 to the NRA now is worth more than that much spread over 3 or 5 years

Life membership is easy. Its also dang cheap (unless you are 90+) What are 3-5 yr memberships nowdays? $25 a year?
So you live 10 yrs. You pay @ $250 membership fees, get renewal notices.. Or you pay $300 and if you live 20 yrs you are $200 ahead. Things get tight you don't HAVE to drop membership as already paid.
If you want they will be happy to accept more $$ and upgrade you. Heck I recall when I went to life member in less then month they were calling/letters to upgrade to IIRC Golden Eagle?

I am not a rep for the NRA so I don't have any idea. I know that on the stuff they sent me and on the website it says this deal is for new members only.

And BTW, :wavey::wavey::wavey::wavey::wavey::wavey: more contacted me over night and info was sent. That makes 13 so far.

No. According to the NRA, this is a fixed deal. You pay $250.

Consider it $500 saved.

I am now a lifer thanks to an online friend. Money was tight after christmas, so my niece and nephew are each members for one year with the bass pro gift card used to fund ammo for their range time.

I paid for her CCW qualification class and ammo, and have a carry piece ready for her once it arrives in the mail.

Thanks gang!

Awesome! I have a G26 sitting here on my desk in the factory case, waiting on a close friend to receive his/her permit from the state. When they get the permit, the gun will be a Christmas/Birthday gift. I've owned it for 3 years, never shot it (purchased it used from another GTer), and figured, what the heck, I might as well make someone happy with it.

What did you do?

There are a couple of things.

1. Non members get annual membership for $20 or $25 (don't remember). If you are seeking to add years, they probably won't do that.

2. Annual members get to upgrade to life member for $300, you must be a current member to take advantage of this

3. Life, Patron and Endowment members can upgrade to the tier above where they are. EPL (easy pay life) folks who are paying on term are SOL.

I think it was that simple for me, I have upgraded two people, myself & enrolled two new members.

Happy joy! I went to a relative who said he was a life member and he refused my money and said he would sign me up for the $300 life membership deal he followed up and said "apparently I am not a life member - I signed you up for 5 years"...

Not to look a gift horse in the mouth I was (and am) grateful, but to read this I am now annoyed; had I all the information up front I would have found someone else and signed up for the $300 deal.

Alas...

I tried the life membership by payments years ago but the NRA screwed it up; they kept sending me bills; I kept telling them to charge my CC and eventually I gave up and eventually they stopped sending me anything - including the magazine. I had to have paid the equivelant of at least several years dues but they dropped me...

Again alas...

:wavey::wavey::wavey::wavey::wavey::wavey: more contacted me since yesterday and some of them asked permission to spread this out to others. By all means do that. Also be aware that when you become a life member you can sponsor others so do that too.

Total is 22 plus those who have already passed the info along to others.

Here is where this gets interesting. I did this same thing on two other forums. I got 14 on one and 12 on the other. That's 48 total so far just by offering it. So now each of those guys and gals are lifers and can do the same thing and sponsor others. How many people do you think we can get if each of them puts the word out on their facebook page or other forums?

Heck, if each lifer who signed up just gets one other person, friend, family and they get just one person how many do you think we can get?

I think this thread proves that there are people out there wanting to join you just have to offer.

The NRA announced that they have signed up 100,000 new members since the Sandy Hook shooting.

We have signed up a total of 55 Life Member so far and that's not counting the ones that gave my info to someone else that I don't know about or other Lifers who sponsored someone else through this thread.

BTW, I did this on two other forum as well. The running totals there are 18 and 37. Grand total with all three so far is 110. If you belong to other forums you might want to consider sponsoring others.

I'm going to pass this on to them, and suggest that everyone at least sign up for the basic $25 1 year membership. I'd suspect that a number of them are already members, so this may be a good opportunity for them to upgrade.

Well I believe I'm now a life member of NRA. Thanks!

As a bonus I'm several years younger than I was before signing up. Their site does not take the birth year selection options back far enough for me.

Mac. Thank you for the info so I could do this deal. Things have been tight since having the boys and I haven't even been able to do the yearly memberships like I used to. Always wanted to get a life but 1k was always more than I could dedicate. I was able to sell some ammo for a gun I haven't had in years to cover the cost. I'm happy now though because I can throw a few bucks here and there to certain causes within the NRA from now on and be a member.
Thanks for the chance to do a little bit of good for our 2A and all of them before and after the 2nd.

Has anyone found out if CURRENT members can take advantage of this? I sent mac a PM and got the neccessary information, but I just saw this tidbit on the nra-2013 page:

Available only to friends and family members who are not current members of the NRA.

I re-upped my membership back in December when it was due (before all the craziness started) but I'd like to take advantage of this. I don't even care about getting pro-rated or my 3-year membership money put towards this or anything...I'm willing to pay the full $300 if it means I can upggrade to the lifetime membership. I'm pretty sure the NRA woulnd't have a problem getting my money twice, but I'd still like to know if any CURRENT members have taken advantage of the deal.

(PS-A BIG thank you to mac66 for doing this)

A friend of mine had the same issue since he is a current member. However, if you call the membership phone # and just give them a life member's # they will do the same deal on the phone even if you are a member currently.

I hope they keep this going into February. I was on the EPL plan, but after getting hit by the financial equivalent of three buses and a truck, it lapsed. Fortunately, with my new job, I think I'll buy a new membership with that first paycheck. Actually, would I be eligible since I have that lapsed EPL membership? I don't know how that would affect it.

Just signed up. Thank you Mac!!!!!! I hope the NRA upgrades your membership to Endowment or something higher for all the people that are signing up for Life Membership because of you.

Anyone who wants to protect their gun rights needs to add their voice to the cause, if nothing else, join the NRA for a year.

This is not about assault weapons, it's about ALL guns. A legislator in Connecticut just submitted a bill to make it a felony to buy, sell, possess or shot any firearm that is capable of holding more than 1 bullet.

On a slight side note, I'm now really starting to question the intelligence of the NRA leadership.

After statement upon statement that just came out wrong and insensitive in the wake of the latest shooting, the NRA has now released a shoot'em up video game, exactly the kind of game LaPierre railed against in his statements of a few weeks ago.

What the hell are these guys thinking???

With friends like these, the pro gun community doesn't need enemies.

The total insensitivity of the leadership with the regards to the timing of this release, combined with all previous poorly chosen statements, reactions and remarks.

They persist in preaching to the choir only, and have not said anything that would in any way sway a single anti gunner in our favor.

Back to the life membership deal...

I signed up on the web and instantly became younger, as their "birth year" choices did not go far enough back.

Most likely, at the $100 for five years rate on the site, I would have spent less by continuing those - even at the $300 life rate. Oh, we'll...

Thanks again Mac. I ended up being able to upgrade for $300 without using your info. I called the membership hotline number on my card and the woman said that I could upgrade for $600. I said that I knew they were offering lifetime memberships for 300 and she said her computer only showed $600 available. She transferred me to someone else and after about 10 minutes on hold a different customer service rep helped me. She said that since since so many people were asking they extended the 300 offer to current members. I asked her why the first woman I spoke to wasn't aware of that and she wasn't certain.

I also signed my 7year old son up for a lifetime membership. :)

I think you've been trusting the media's view a little too much.

After criticizing violent, gory shooting games, the NRA releases a non-violent target shooting game that simulates how us law abiding people use guns for recreation. They offered a good alternative for what they do not agree with. How is this seen as anything by positive?

They persist in preaching to the choir only, and have not said anything that would in any way sway a single anti gunner in our favor.
This I somewhat agree with. I don't think they should cease preaching to the choir. But it would be nice if the statements that the NRA makes did not firmly divide people. I'm sure most people aren't on the fence about guns and most have their mind made up, so there might not be many people to win over with "softer" messages anyway.

I for one, appreciate their firm stance.

Are you a member of the NRA?

Three consecutive foreign 3 year membership subscriptions, 2001-2009.

Depending on the what (and how much) you shop for (or courses you follow) the savings outweigh the fee.

Lots of foreign shooters depend on US outlets for their parts (in a completely legal way), and on NRA courses, they frequently purchase on behalf of multiple shooters and are therefore as much, if not more, interested in maintaining the rights and privileges of US residents with regards to firearms, and are therefore willing to support this financially as well.

Yesterday I read 500,000 new members. It sure would be nice to see another zero on that number...

mac66
02-02-2013, 07:30
Total is now 117 new members just from this posting not counting those who called in or gave the info to others.

I also put the info on three other websites and I estimate the total of all to be about 280.

Here's the thing. Joining the NRA is only the first step. We have to continue to contact our legislators, show up a gun rights rallies. We have to keep pushing the point at both a state and federal level that we will not tolerate infringement of our rights. We have challenge every biased media call for more gun control. We have to push the anti-gunners down, rub their faces in the dirt and stomp them into submission, figuratively speaking. We have to attack them on every front and challenge them on every lie.

With the numbers were are gathering we have to make sure that every anti gun legislator loses his/her job in 2014.

We have to have a united front and keep the pressure on even if the anti-gunners back off a bit.

You're welcome.

Got 3 or 4 inquiries this week about joining. Lost track of how many signed up here but it was quite a few.

Now, we have to do something collectively to save our rights. Joining was just the first step. Contact your representitives to tell them to support the 2nd Amendment is the next. Contact firearms related companies and tell them to not sell products to governmental entities is the next.
