Magazine Ban of 2013 - YouTube

You need to contact your representatives NOW, this bill could go to vote as soon TODAY January 3rd, 2013. We need to make it clear that we do not support this legislation and that anyone who does support it will lose our votes in the midterm and any other future elections.

Here is a link where you can easily contact your representatives, Senators and the President. This is literally a fight for your rights. Please take the time to contact these people.

Congress.org – Get informed, get involved (http://www.congress.org/congressorg/mail/?alertid=61046526&type=ML)

Also, we need to urge Speaker Bohner to not allow this bill to go to the floor for a vote. Use the link below to contact him directly.

Below is a letter I wrote, feel free to copy it as your own.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Greetings,
I am writing to voice my concern over the purposed ban on firearm magazines over 10 rounds. It has been proven that bans such as these are totally ineffective and have no impact on crime.
Representative Diana DeGette (D) who is introducing the bill admitted in a recent news article that such laws rarely have any effect on crime. She said, "I am not so naive to think that we can pass some law that will stop a deranged person from taking a gun and shooting people; however, what I am interested in, is making it as difficult as possible for that deranged person to shoot as many people as possible." She knows that this will be an ineffective law, but wants to pass a meaningless law for feel good reasons. It is not the time to pass some law just for the sake of passing some law. This proposed bill will make it so that transfer of these magazines will become a felony crime. This is not what this country was founded on, nor is it what thousands of this country's finest men have fought and died to protect. This is a massive violation of our Second Amendment rights, and freedom in general to not be able to own or transfer to friends or family a magazine over ten rounds over what amounts to a meaningless, knee-jerk reaction, feel good ban.
Like it or not, the gun industry in the United States is thriving. There are millions of responsible, law abiding gun owners in this country ranging from hunters, to sport shooters to those simply seeking to protect their families from harm. What accompanies this thriving gun industry is tens of thousands of jobs. Any of the coming proposed gun legislation be it the magazine ban or the assault weapons ban will absolutely crush this gun industry. All the firearms manufacturers, accessory manufacturers, ammunition manufacturers and many others including small business gun dealers will see their sales numbers plummet and have no choice but to enact massive layoffs. At the end of the day, not only will this proposed legislation trample our Second Amendment Rights, but it will strike another blow to this already struggling economy
I insist that you to vote NO to any further gun control legislation. These laws do not deter criminals and only punish the law abiding citizens of this nation. The second Amendment is something myself and many others enjoy and hold dear; therefore any federal, state or local government official that votes in favor of any new gun control regulation will not receive my vote in any future elections.
Thank you.
Do you have the bill number? It always helps to reference the specific bill when you write.
The NRA-ILA has a great tool on their website to write in batch to BOTH your Federal and State reps (including your Governor). It's so simple there is really no excuse not to.
That is not it. HR308 was introduced two years ago by McCarthy. Never went anywhere. Writing anyone without knowing what we are talking about is NOT going to help.
It says its current on the GOA website:
But if it isn't HR 308, then what is it called?
And if the video is wrong, then what? :dunno:
I don't see anywhere in the video HR308 is mentioned. Sturmgewehre said Colorado Rep. Diana DeGette would introduce legislation. Probably after being sworn in again and a vote on leadership.
Write your Reps, but don't use bad info.
Too late. :crying:
The link was taken out of the video description too. I'll go back and redact my posts to avoid confusion.
