Some over-zealous city council members to say the least. Crap, I live only one township over....

Laws banning "assault weapons" will not stop a homicidal maniac from killing... As murder is already "banned" and that hasn't stopped anyone has it? When the hell are people gonna wake up?!?!

As one VT congressman apparently said in session "What part of SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED do you not ()&(&!ng understand?"

State law and the Constitution supercede any city ordinance in stupidity like that.

Like I've pointed out before, an American is 3 times more likely to be beaten to death by an unarmed person than to be killed with all types of rifles combined. 5 times as likely to be killed with a knife. That makes "assault rifle" hysteria look pretty stupid.

himself a Socialist, listed as a independent but none the less State law and the Constitution supercede any city ordinance in stupidity like that.State law like the 1988 Sportsman Protection Act,that and then they would have to get the state Constitution changed.

I do not know how far back you are talking about for that statement.

Vermont only has one Congressman, small state.
The current occupant is a former ambulance chasing communist,ok he calls himself a progressive, same thing.
The former one is now one of our two US Senators he calls himself a Socialist a Communist none the less.
Our other Senator is a eighty something year old former ambulance chasser. He calls himself a Democrat ,more leftist.
We Vermonters need to replace the whole kit and caboodle.

I have said for years that unless one is born in Vermont they are not eligible to even be elected to the school board or dog catcher. I know also un Constitutional.

Of Vermonts Federal representatives none is a Vermonter, they are all Carpetbaggers from states where they wouldn't have a prayer of being elected. SJ 40

I'll feel safer while downing a few pints at VPB, then again Burlington should be more concerned with the major drug problem that's bringing the City down. I was there last weekend, but spent most of my time in Milton, and although most people I know there are gun owners, they all voted for Obama.

Yes Milton is a know drug spot, and sad to admit a few relatives in Milton have had their issues with pills, etc. The State Rep. out of Milton is a relative of mine. I thought Burlington would improve since Mayor Kiss is gone.

Mayor Kiss my *** Bob after swindling the city employees retirement fund darn near dry, couldn't get elected chief of pooper scoopers. So the city elected another,Miro Weinburger one to finish the job. SJ 40

Beat me to it, state law supersedes so this is all just political theater on the taxpayer's dime.

Wonder when they'll ban Fords and Chevys, cause I'm pretty sure more people have died in auto related accidents in the last month than have died by "assault rifles" in the last few years. I guess when you have an agenda, the facts don't mean much.

I wrote to the mayor of Burlington to voice my strong opposition to this proposal.....
and reminded his office of the lawsuits that would immediately drown his office should they attempt to override the VT constitution....

got a form-letter reply. Thanked me for my opinion......
This law will be laughably ignorable should it "pass"!

... this is all just political theater on the taxpayer's dime.

This is the main reason we are spiraling the drain ... reality TV has taken the minds of the populace (TV now knows life better than moral value). Try asking a person under twenty-one a few political questions, hardly any know there are three branches of .GOV

It is going to be rough.

Doesn't matter where you try and run, NH, ME VT, are being overrun. I don't think the NEK can hold out much longer.

Burlington...doesn't surprise me one bit. Very few Vermonters live in Chittenden County. If it were not for all the relocated flat-landers there is no way that fart sniffing progressive would have been elected Governor. Luckily preemption will overturn this.

I feel your pain. Part of the reason we didn't move back once my wife finished graduate school.

I couldn't believe it the last time I was up there visiting my parents they had signs in Burlington saying you couldn't idle your car. :dunno:

If it wasn't for the beer at VPB, and the Brewfest every July at the Waterfront I'd stay away. I do stay at the Hilton when there so I can booze up around downtown, and not drive. The free places to stay in Milton are not worth a DUI.
