The other day my pal @ the LGS was saying how he kept ordering, but didn't have anymore anything. :crying:

So I boxed up some WWB 5.56, some .223 V-Max, and some .32acp, plus a couple AR mags and took it in.

In trade I got a pre S/N Remington 572 pump .22 that
shoots LRs, longs and shorts

I could've had the NAA Wasp or Black Widow... maybe next time?

How'd I do?

You did not get totally banged, but he sold those mags and that ammo for a friggin premium. Read: HUGE profit. Doubt he had more than 200 in the little Remmy..... when you think about it.... Ouch. Like really ouch.

non windowed Pmags are going for 50+ a pop here in FL, and those are the cheap ones. .223 is dang near $1 a round these idiot panikers are paying. Too bad. But hey.........

you asked.

Hamilton Burger???
That's too funny.
I always wondered how he kept his job.

Anyhow, that's a neat little pump gun. I would take one over any NAA.

I have a few full cap Glock mags lying around collecting dust, is the panic still on? I should see what I could get for them.

How much ammo and mags? the rifle is worth $200-$300. The LGS probably gave $150 trade in on it.

At a recent gun show Pmags were $50+ each, GI mags were $20-30 and .223 ammo was at least $1 per round.

Naw, not this guy. He's not charging panic prices. I was there on Saturday when he sold the last AR in the place, one of those Colt/Walther .22s, for right around $400.

He never did stock alot of mags, just a few p-mags. Since things took off he simply can't keep enough on hand.

I gave up a couple of LE marked 20 rounders, two post-ban 10rd, two sketchy 5rd. hunting mags, and a few boxes of ammo I wasn't gonna use. Turned them into a gun I will use.
I didn't get banged at all .

Thanks; we've got a few semis and a bolt around the place, but I've been wanting to try a pump... either this or a Winchester, and the Rem seems a bit more robust.

Somehow I've divested myself of all .22 pistols over the last couple years, and those little NAAs seem really well put together. I think eventually I'll get one, just for giggles.

The guy's a friend of mine, and we're always swapping things. Guns, holsters, grips, etc. I know what he pays for things, and he knows what I'll pay. Nobody's scalping anybody. His Pmags were $18 when he had them.

I've always preferred an A1 profile, a pencil barrel, and those LE marked 20rd mags, but they never commanded $$ like the 30s. The 10rd BMs and 5rd Masens were just accumulated clutter.

I spent about $6 each on the WWB. Probably twice that for the Hornady. Ten of each plus some .32acp. Together with the mags I valued the package at $250... right at what he was asking for the Remington.

You got rid of some stuff you weren't using, and picked-up something new-to-you that you WILL use.
Sounds like a great deal to me.

I found a used 572 several years ago (friends roommate), and I really enjoy it.
Try filling it up with CCI CB Shorts or CB Longs (if you can find them, of course); sounds like a pellet gun but hits harder, and with the shorts, you get 20+ shots in the tube. Lots of fun!

Pic of mine (but it wears an optic now; the ol' eyes ain't up to iron-sight shooting any more):

Wow, nice pic DJ.

All I could find was Winchester shorts. Also not having much luck finding 3/4" rings to mount my old Weaver C4 scope. Gotta work on my bionic squint. :embarassed:

Anytime you can trade something you don't use for something you will use and you're happy you came out ahead.

one of my coworkers recently traded 5000 rounds of .22lr for an AR15 stripped lower (his first). i told him good luck finding any other part for that lower.

Then there you go. Win. I stand corrected, I guess

Have you ever considered using ring reducers in a standard 1-inch ring?

I acknowledge that they exist, but no, I hadn't considered them. That's got to look like ass

I might need to buy a $8 Tasco for the rings....

I've done this, but made the reducers myself from plastic pipe. Not elegant, but with sharp clean cuts just slightly shorter that the rings, they aren't really noticeable.

Found some Rem. shorts to compare to the Win.
I did see some CCI CBs, but they were priced like WMR!

Going to the range tomorrow; son wants to sight in the big Simmons on his Marlin.
We'll see how the 572 does open-sighted and go from there I guess.

So we spent a few hours at the range on Saturday. Kind of a fiasco, but still fun...

Woke up kinda late, puttered around the house, and finally got to the club around 2:00. Unfortunately I hadn't thought to buy targets, but son had some shoot-n-sees, and we scrounged up some clays to shoot at.

We'd boresighted his Marlin/Simmons the night before, so we went right to the 50yd. lanes. We couldn't get it on paper to save our lives , and had to start over @ the 25yd. Since he forgot his magazines we were working single-shot, but finally got things sorted.

Back at the 50yd. line, the 572 peformed flawlessly with Mini Mags. We also brought some Remington and Winchester shorts, but out of the 1st 10 Rems there were 3 confirmed duds, and another one later in the box. Pretty quiet, and while the MMs bust the standard orange clays into shards, the shorts just put a pinky sized hole through. Never did try the Win.

We also blasted some 12g. slugs and some .30-30 just for fun. Had to go when the fog rolled in, but all in all a good day
