Well since he doesn't show the rifle we can't ID it, but a .30 cal 180 gr probably means its a 7.62x51 /.308...

Looked like a plain old .30 AP M2 bullet, no tungsten or tungsten carbide involved.

Most likely a .30-06, he does not strike me as smart enough to handload some other .30 cal with surplus bullets.

Can we get someone who's actually knowledgeable in here?? In the description it says that he hand-loaded them. The hard steel was behind the tungsten penetrator!

It's impressive that he used AR-500 Steel.

180 grain is typically 30.06, but can be as well a 7.62X51 (.308).
There are hundreds of different rifles in those calibers.
Fact is, this is a standard round you can buy while they get hard to find.
A few years ago CTD had them.

Have to agree with this... M2 bullet. The M2's I've had a chance to see weighed 165 grains. Understandably, they were pretty long compared to a lead core bullet. I guessed they were 180's when I first saw them.

For what it's worth, some guy with a .338 Win Mag w/African Grand Slams shot and punctured the Alaskan Pipeline a few year back.

It caused a real mess to clean up.

Nice attitude towards someone who took time out of their day in an attempt to help you out...

Surely not.

It was a 300 win mag. The tip is tungsten, the core is hardened steel. Found this in the comments for the video.

I will have to agree. I am new to this forum and when I asked a very simple question but wanted to make sure it will be safe to do what I wanted to o, the first person answering to my post instead of trying to offer advice, he lectured me on the fact that I was on the wrong thread..... Folks, we are here to help each other and going through some hard times right now. We need to stick together and help each other. If not, the other side is going to win.

He was being rude, as are many on the forum. I'd like to see mods help to keep it under control.

I appreciate that. Unfortunately, some people never learn that each one of us does or will need some help, assistance or advise at one point or another. The more time I spend reading stuff in these forums, the more I realize how many nice and helpful people are participating here. Thank folks for doing this. I have my own forum related to machining and I fully understand how much work it takes to do all this. As far as the mods are concerned, I think that they are people just like us, trying to help and handle their personal life's soot can be overwhelming some times. Once again, thank you.

The bullet uses was M2 ball Black tip. Now he might have reloaded it into a different case 300 Win mag but it's still M2 ball! There is an Old army training video showing the '06 AP round going through an 18" pine tree an through a Nazi helmet!

Yeah, you can still buy pulled AP bullets. They weigh around 165gr.

Zippy things! It's possible it was an M2. :dunno:

If the guy did hand load the rounds he should know for certain the bullet weight. Otherwise he shouldn't load his own. II have seen plenty of these at gun shows and everyone sold them as pulled M2 bullets.

I didn't know they were so readily available, where can you buy them at? I'd like to get some.

He said in the video that it had been awhile since he had loaded/weighed them. Why would he lie about which gun he used? Are you saying there is some kind of conspiracy here?
