Got some new .38 Super JHPs in the mail today.

The one on the right is a Wilson Combat ammo loaded with Hornady XTP 124 grain.

The one on the left is a 125gr Corbon loading.

Holy crap is that Corbon a wide SOB! :wow:

It cycles by hand thru my .38 Super, will have to test it on the range though. I would love to see it's expansion in a test :)

I have not seen a JHP that wide in a .38 Super before. I don't have any other Corbon ammo at the time to compare it too. Are most Corbon JHPs loaded with projectiles so wide?

Is Cor-Bon trying to bring back the Flying Ashtray except in different caliber?

Yes it do look like the old Speer flying ashtray - which I was a fan of way back when. Gonna have to try some of those in my Sig 220. Thanks for the heads up!

Not a bad analogy.

The "Flying Ashtray" that was the round to have...:faint:

Looks like a coffee mug to me. What are those running out of the barrel?

1325fps from the box for the Hornady and 1335fps for the Wilson.

Yeah the .38 Super is a hot little round, underrated IMO as a defensive round. In a 1911 is shoots like a dream and runs like melted butter. Most of my 1911s are in .45ACP but I think .38 Super is my favorite 1911 round. I ordered my last 1911 (hoping it is done soon!) in .38 Super even. If I order another one in the future it will be in .38 Super I think.
