Hey everyone! Just picked up my very first handgun, a Glock 19. After doing months of research trying to figure out which model I love the most, I decided to go with this one. Just picked it up yesterday, haven't gotten a chance to get some rounds through her, but I'm already in love. I'll update with a range report as soon as I have a chance to spend some quality time with her. I'd also like to thank you all for your posts, as some of the posts helped shape my decision. Here's some pics of her after I put on the +2 magazine extensions I bought online. Enjoy

This was my first Glock as well, got it on Thanksgiving. I love the way it shoots and fits my hand. After shooting my dads Ruger 40 I am now looking at getting another Glock in 40 cal. Gotta love the Glock addiction

Jealousy/envy... I am still waiting for my State Police paperwork so I can fondle my USA-made G19 Gen 3...after fondling, then off to the range!

Love love love my 3rd gen g19. I took the four day defensive handgun course at Front Sight Training school in NV and was able to get a distinguished graduate with the g19. Not bad for a smaller framed sidearm.

If the powers that be let me own just one pistol it would be a Glock 19. Perfect combination of carry-ability and shootability. Combined with a caliber that's available world wide. Good choice.

Very good pistol for serious (defensive) use. Easy enough to carry anywhere, a pleasure to shoot and affordable to train on, very reliable and durable, huge accessory market all compensate handsomely from a slightly frustrating trigger to master. Congrats!

Thanks for the support everyone! I was honestly debating between the 26 and the 19 for the longest time but after shooting them both I decided the 19 fit perfectly in my hand. Looks like I made a good choice judging from the posts all over this website and all the reviews on the gun. Now if I can just squeeze in some range time on my lunch breaks.. :whistling:

Great choice. The Glock 17 was my first choice. The 19 is my usual carry gun. I cannot recommend it enough.

Awesome choice! I was purely a Sig guy until I got a deal on a Gen 3 G19...I shoot the hell out of it and I really enjoy that gun.

G19, yeah !
Great choice over, over-priced Sigs.
Sigs are marketed for amateurs who don't mind getting ripped off.
Ridiculously heavy trigger pull first shot.
Unnecessary safeties.
Priced far higher than better guns.
Enjoy that G19...for life !

I have 2 G19 Gen3's and like them very much. I like the 40S&W/10mm better but because of med problems I had to go to less recoil and chose the G19. Fine handgun!

I just purchased my first G19 as well. Only put about 100 rounds through it so far. Hopefully the ejection will get better as it breaks in:dunno:

Thanks everyone for the replies! To tell you the truth I'm a bit worried about the BTF issues I'm reading all over the forum but I have faith mine will do me good :) Plus its a 3rd Gen and it looks like these models don't seem to really have a big issue with BTF. This weekend I'm definitely making some time for the range.

Congrats!
The G19 was my first Glock also, and it is the LAST one I would ever part with.
~15,000 rds through my current Gen3 19, no broken parts and only replaced the recoil spring assembly @10,000 rds.

Very nice, I'm jealous seeing all these threads on people buying G19's. I can't find one anywhere locally! As soon as any of the LGS get a shipment in they are gone that same day. :crying:

Can't go wrong with the Glock 19 got my wife one then one for the grand daughter to shoot and this Christmas got the last one the LGS had for my son . I have a g21 got for my first Glock I'm old and old school vietnam vet and thought the 45 ACP was the only way. I do shoot wife's 19 alot . Still like the power of the 45 but ammo can be pricey . word of warning Glocks are very addicting you can own just one

I remember 1997. I well researched handguns. I settled on the 19, and bought a used Gen 2. I am currently just getting into a gen 4 at 100 trouble free rounds and some ameriglo sights. I love the 19, and if I "could only have one gun", it would be the 19... Welcome.

1shot1glock,

Congratulations on your new Glock.

I have had a few revolvers & pistols before I bought my 1st Glock, and guess which one it was.... That's right the G19. I bought a Gen3 when they 1st came out. I love it!

At the risk of getting flamed (why cant all Glockers just get along), have you tried shooting a 38 in 45GAP? Not as much snap is the 23, more than the 19.

I'm pretty sure you have no idea what your talking about. Sigs are some of the finest guns made...ask U.S. Spec Ops. I bet you don't have one....therefore you hate...or are you truly a pro? doubt it....LOL

Everyone has opinions. Some base them off of their own personal experience, others base them off of others experiences. Everyone has their favorites and some just "work" better for certain people. Sig vs HK vs Glock vs 1911 arguements will always be around.

Personally, I have shot just about every model of Sig and HKs. Sure they are fine pistols, but yet I own 16 Glocks and soon to be 17 of the available 19 models. For me Glocks work better than Sig or HK. I don't care what someones opinions are as to which they feel is higher quality. I care only about which ones I personally shoot the best (tightest and fastest and consistent groups). And for me I can shoot a Glock 19 better than any HK or Sig I have ever shot. For many people out there, Glocks don't work. For many others they do.

Seems to me that with the current political state, we should all unite to keep our guns regardless of who made them! Why can't we all just shoot straight with whatever we chose? I won't force you to shoot Glock if you don't force me to shoot Sig. Deal?

1shot1glock- Congratulations, and well done. Welcome to the tupperware club. I have a suggestion that may interest you. I got a circa 1990 2nd Gen G19 with 10,000 rounds fired, factory stock, and fired it another 20,000 times over 15 years or so, and sold it in fine working order. Smooth. I did nothing more than load any 9mm round available, fire, clean/inspect, repeat. It did'nt even have the 6-part update. Stock Perfection for 30k rounds, with magazines that did the same. My only complaints were: 1) Odd grip angle- I adapted. 2) Magazine release is outside my reach- I adjusted the pistol in my hand so that the non-ejection side is facing me. This allows my thumb to reach the mag release, and observation of the magazine port. With practice, this worked well for me even under stress. 3) Half a dozen stove pipes. 4) Brass in the face for a short time. The suggestion is that you do exactly the same thing with your 3rd Gen? It can be done with the 2nd Gen, how about you report back once in a while? I'm new here but I've read quite a bit, and I bet a lot of people would be interested in a G-19 long term multi generation test... then, in a decade, find a guy with a 4th Gen, etc etc

Yep... the only complaints you ever hear about 19s are from those who don't like the grip angle, or for those ham-fisted guys that it doesn't fit well.

Other than that... 19s rock!
