So bought nine different ones over the weekend - thought it might be fun to read about the many guns available.

One, Gun World is published by Beckett Media in Yorba Linda, CA.

Another, Guns Magazine is published by Publishers Development in San Diego, CA.

And SEVEN others, Concealed Carry Handguns, 2013 Buyers Guide Handguns, Glock Autopistols, Combat Handguns, Pocket Pistols, Personal & Home Defense, and the Complete Book of Handguns are all published by Harris Publications in NYC.

What I found was what you already know that these not inexpensive magazines seem to be full of articles and reviews that might as well be advertisements for the gun manufacturers. Nary a bad word to be found. Even when there is a problem the articles seem to greatly minimize it.

Now these are supermarket magazines for sure. So kinda get that there's not gonna be any meat in them.

My question is am I missing any good magazines about handguns that tell it like it is instead of hit homers for the company they're writing the article about?

Have found the best "truth" about various guns on the Internet. But am I missing any good, truth telling, handgun magazines?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Gun Tests magazine is pretty good, but they don't do a huge number of reviews. They do pistols, rifles, shotguns, and ammo. I bought a Springfield XDS 45 based on their review, and it was pretty accurate by my lights.

Have a look at...

http://www.gun-tests.com/

The magazine does not accept advertising, and its approach is to compare and contrast similar competing products.

Try the American Handgunner, I think it's a step above, but they too have to sell advertising. http://www.americanhandgunner.com/

The best article in the Glock Autopistols magazine is on pages 14 and 15..... :)
