Will the G30S be available as a Gen 4? Or am I better of buying the standard Gen 4 G30?

Mike if you have access (you work at a gunshop?) to a glock 30SF and G36, swap the slides out. If the difference is huge and you like the slide girth and weight reduction then get the 30S. If you like the Gen4 grip texture then get the 30Gen4.

If you are getting it for GSSF and not carry I don't think it will make a difference and would go with the Gen4.

Does anybody know what the price is on the G30S?

the G30 S has the thinner slide...a G30 SF has the thicker slide and the short frame...perhaps a G30 S Gen4 will be the best of all worlds or will the G30 S have the SF frame???...so many choice...;)

Is the G-30S is made on the shorter SF size frame?

The frame of the new G30S is the Gen3 G30SF frame according to Glock (http://us.glock.com/news/release/glock-unveils-new-30s-pistol-model).

A Gen4 G30 frame wouldn't significantly reduce the size of the G30S if it were available in that config, but IMHO the more aggressive grip texture and larger mag release of the Gen4 frame would improve the G30S.

I will have to see one of these G30S models 'in the flesh' before I would commit to a purchase.
I am really wanting another 30, but I think the Gen4 will get the nod?

Mike,

Looks like Mas Ayoob just answered some of your questions in his forum:

Are the grip dimensions of the gen 3 30SF, the same as the gen 4 30?

The G30 Gen4 grip "feels" slightly smaller than the G30SF Gen3 grip in my hand, but I haven't put a digital caliper on both to confirm that definitively. I didn't see a difference in size from close visual inspection when compared side by side.

The different feel of the Gen4 grip is more than likely due to the uniform texture around the entire circumference of the grip, whereas the G30SF Gen3 has a deeper texture on the backstrap and finger grooves compared to the sides of the grip.

The 30 gen4 is out, however I believe right now it is available to LE/MIL only as blue labels.
