Stopped by Gander Mountain today to pick up some scope rings and a sling swivel. Looked at the 1911 case and

:faint:

Dang GM I could snag a Brown or Baer for that much.....I guess that 1911 will be sitting in the case for a while.

I remember when GM had good prices on firearms....I mean it was 7-8 years ago but not anymore.

Yeah, those guys are nuts.

It truly amazes me that some people are STUPID enough to buy guns there. That pic alone causes my blood pressure to go up 10 points. :steamed:

That 1 for $799 seems kinda steep. But the 2 for $499 is a good deal.

That's enough to make me never step foot in their store again. That's pathetic. And a close up look at TRUE gouging and shows what they think of their customers.

CRAZY!

I have a local store with a SA Range Officer in the case for $985.99:faint:

All I spent was $61 and I swear I still felt kinda "funny and tingly" in my bottom when I left just by looking at those 1911s :wow:

I felt like "Ned Betty in Deliverance" when I left there and just don't fully recall why....:crying:

I did get one of these, sweet little addition to the gun safe. I almost lost a toe a few weeks ago when a AR15 attacked my foot when it slipped and fell as it was leaning against the wall :crying:

Uses magnets to stick to the side of the safe.
Works very very well.

But dang it MSRP on the website is $17.99 and I paid $19.99 at GM! They did "Ned Beatty" me, I knew I felt cheap and ashamed!!!!!

Thanks, but that is a product pic from the item I was linking in my post. You know like the blond hottie in the picture frame when you buy the frame from the store. But hey if I can claim the O/U from that pic then I am claiming her as well!

There are a lot of people in this world with more money than brains. Someone will walk into that store looking for a "high end" gun and the bro behind the counter will tell them "Its the best" and it will be sold. Also there are plenty of people who will just buy it at that price because they want it now. My dumbass cousin is a prime example of this. He paid 699 plus tax for a Glock 17 because they had one at the store. He could have paid $480 plus tax from the basement ffl down the street and waited 5 or 6 days, but no he had to have it now.

I go to GM indoor bow rang only, I don't buy anything because they are too high on everything.

Gander is usually where I go to check things out before I buy them from someone else online. It takes a lot of self control to not tell everyone at the gun counter that they are being ripped off. It is a free market though, and we all know what they say about a fool and his money...

I picked a BHP, target sights, high blue polish, walnut grips. Used but you would not know it $499. It was a beauty. Also a Steyr M1 NIB $299. Some others for good prices but not great.

They can keep their stuff now. Yesterday they were calling out numbers of who was next to be waited on. But 3 out of every 4 numbers did not respond when called. I guess they realized they were about to get screwed and left while waiting to be called.

No kidding!

I was in our local GM a few weeks ago and they were selling police trade in G22's and S&W 5906's for $500! These guns were rough too...

So why is the 1911 on the left cocked with the safety off? Seems the guys behind the counter aren't too bright.

I've been in the Gander in Fayetteville NC and been
shocked by some of the prices. I've also seen some
stuff priced stupid low too, like the Python above.

Just have to be there at the right time.

Their store closed down in my area and my LGS moved into their old store. There was never hardly in cars in the lot when Gander was there. Now the parking lot is full most days. I wish that I had taken a picture of the lot then & now. I would send the pictures to Gander Mountain, with a note ( you are doing something wrong , the support is here for a good store ).

the same thing happens at the Cabelas where i am located. most of the guns have a steep mark-up. the closest GM is always high as well, but they are much farther away then Cabelas.

My favorite gun shop sticker shock story was when I walked into a LGS in Ft. Smith, AR, a few years ago, and saw a Ruger P94 carrying a $750 price tag.

The pistols have trigger locks. The hammer won't drop until the locks are removed.

good friend of mine swears to me that years ago he found a springer pro in one of the gander cases for like 900bucks used. Figured they didn't know what it was. Went to finish up what he had to do and come back for it. By the time he came back somebody else had realized what it was and grabbed it

I had a couple good gander mountain gun experiences in Rockford IL....

Smith and wesson Model 41 for $600 ...early model but in excellent shape.

Ruger SR1911...they had one in stock when they were just coming out and you couldn't find them...plus it was only $699.

From my experience, GM price matches. Picked up a Glock Gen 4 19 with 15 round mags for $549 in store. All they did was confirm the price with a phone call.

I don't doubt that. They had that Python next to a King Cobra that they wanted $1500 for! :wow: I guess they got them mixed up, but you can see the tag. Someone took the time to type up the wording on the tag. Just glad I was there at the right time.
