Has anybody handled one yet?
I seen the review of them in a magazine or two and it really peaked my interest.

"Recoil" magazine did a review on the "F" model and claimed to have ran it pretty hard. Though I'd like to judge for myself of course.

I still love my 17's but I'm always looking to add some variety
to my humble collection. Your thoughts?

I know they had a big recall recently you may want to look into.

Yeah, I figured they're going to be working the bugs out for a little while lol Of course I'm in no hurry, I don't need anything at the moment.

After watching an in depth review I've lost interest, they're trying to reinvent the wheel or whatever you want to say. Yes they may have less parts than a Glock but that's not really an advantage. When you start to merge parts together like they're doing, you take away from the design.
The rear sight for example is actually part of the back plate and extends under the rear of the slide.

You should try one out before deciding. I had the F and the C. Both were great. Accurate, very low recoil, totally reliable, ergonomic and a much better trigger than a Glock. As soon as Caracal releases a 2nd Gen that has good night sights, i will be getting another C model. I got a refund on mine due to the recall. Im rocking M&P's now and loving them as well.

Caracal's ergonomics are quite nice and their trigger pull is only second to a Walther PPQ (in the polymer pistol world). I think the recall affected their reputation significantly.

They face an uphill battle against other well-established polymer pistol in today's market.

All I know is they were all recalled and I have 2 friends that got refunds for their when they sent them in for the repairs.

They look "cheap". Not my cup of tea...

I have a Caracal C with quick sights and it is awesome.
Much better shooter than any Glock I have ever shot.
I also really like the quick sights.
I have to send mine back for the recall and when I get it back it will be my carry gun once again.
Best polly gun ever for me.

I wouldn't mind taking one to the range.

I agree with you on that, though people do seem to like them.

I'm waiting for a while. Also I've yet to see one in person.

Checked them out again at Shot Show last week. They seemed no cheaper than a Glock or M&P (take that however you like). If I can find a deal on a C with the quick sight, I'll pick one up.

They are actually quite well made and the quality becomes evident when you do a field strip and look over the slide, barrel frame etc. The only part that looked a bit cheap was the guide rod/spring.

Anyone want to post some pics of their Caracal in action? (That is of course if anybody has one.)

I didn't mind the way they felt when I handled one. I thought it was a nice pistol. I am too invested in Glocks to move away from them.

I am interested in picking up a C model once they work the bugs out that were the subject of the recall. Just patiently waiting to see...

The bugs have been worked out. Any new Caracal pistol you buy will not have the drop safety issue.

What distributors are carrying the caracal now?

Comedian

I dont think they are widely distributed yet. Caracal has been busy with the whole recall thing. They will be coming out with a sub compact at some point as well.

Nice. Congrats on the PPQ. I hope to see a range report sometime soon.

But.. are you guys serious? Feels like a toy? It's a freakin Glock 1.5:tongueout:. Same designer and everything lol. I'm not calling you out specifically ASH, I've been folowing the caracal since it first started to make the scene. Any damn striker fired pistol feels like a cheap, plastic, fake toy.

It's somewhat ironic, some Glockers are acting like the gunners of the 80's/90's when they first saw the Glock.

I picked up an F model at a gun show and it just felt a little skinny on the backstrap. I really like that fat surface area on the Glock, but I would have to shoot the desert cat to know for sure, as I heard it has ridiculously low felt recoil.

The Carcal allegedly has the second finest trigger next to the PPQ. I'd like to try out the PPQ, M&P 9 and Caracal F out right next to the G17, and then pick up a 1911 to have some real fun!

Caracals dont feel any cheaper than any other striker fired plastic pistol.

All the Caracals are in U.S. customs right now waiting to clear. There are 10,000 of them so it is taking a while. I hope to have my new Caracal by March. By the way there is nothing cheap about the Caracal. I really like them alot.

i'd like to give one a workout, but, i wouldn't take any actual anything from recoil magazine.

I like mine better than my G19. love how it grips, enough texture that I don't need grip tape like my Glock, no finger groves, ambi magazine release. A really solidly built pistol

Great pistols and mine have ran flawless, the recall kinda killed the momentum but I'm sure this will get worked out.
