We the people are tacking this to the NYS Supreme Court for a Repeal. What Gov. Como did was against the Law & our 2nd Amend rights.

The situation in New York was bad when I relocated; it's worse now. Hopefully this madness is not contagious and spreads to Pennsylvania.

At the bottom of the site it states that this is not a source for legal opinions, just for information.

Therefore, tell them they have no standing for the information if it is not legally binding.

You're assuming the make up of the Supreme Court will be the same if this is ever taken up by them. I'm sure you full well know any Obama nominee will have to pass a anti 2A litmus test to even be considered for nomination to the court.

Sorry, I stopped reading after the first topic "What does this law do?" and saw the words "common sense." Every gun grabbing political reject out there uses those two words together every time they want to ban something firearm related and it's never common sense...never not once in a million years. They throw that phrase in there for the dumb dumbs that actually vote them into office.

Sorry your state is one of a few large cities that will just never get it and don't care, even if they do since they have a different agenda than "stopping crime".

I think this law has left something out entirely. The wording does not seem to cover unassembled weapons. For example, you take an AR15 apart and now have a lower and an upper, and no complete functional weapon. Neither part alone is illegal or banned. You could keep it disassembled for what ever reason if you didn't want to register it. Am I wrong here? Same thing should be true about larger magazines.

The only ones that benefit from these so called laws are the criminals, and that includes some of the politicians.

NY has always had strict gun laws.

Strict is one thing. Oppressive is quite another. My state is sure to follow suit shortly. Nobody upstages the soft-headed idiots in Sacramento! Nobody!

In the month since it was passed, the Cuomo gun law has been vilified by county legislatures, sheriffs and ordinary citizens across the State. People have until January next year to register their "assault" weapons. There are an estimated 1 million of them in NY. Someone is going to start laying odds on the statewide compliance rate, and the line will likely hover at not more than 10 percent. This is going to get interesting. And the Governor plans on running for President, using his "common sense gun control" as a bragging point.

I remember when carrying concealed before permits was less of a big deal than carrying now with a permit ! Even if you were stopped in a road block then you simply laid the loaded firearm in plain sight and there was no problem. We used to shoot in the back yard and nobody even noticed ! Now if a car backfires somebody calls the police ! Even then there were rich people like Bloomberg and Cuomo that were smarter than the rest of us, but they were afraid to mess with the masses ! What I take away from all these crazy changes is I really must be getting old !
