View Full Version : STI's New Tactical SS
You guys remember the old Springfield Operator? It broke my heart when they went away from the full length dust cover. I still hate myself for not pulling the trigger on one back in the day.
Well, STI is bringing sexy back....

I think I'm gonna have to go ahead and sell off my STI 2011 Tactical 4.15 to finance a purchase. I could just never fall in love with it any way.

Not my style, but I'm sure its a great pistol.
Yeah, I know the full length dust cover isn't for everyone. But, I've always had a thing for it.
I've been wanting a railed 1911, and don't want to modify my Trojan.
I'm hoping I should be able to sell my 2011 and break even on picking up one of these.

Congrats! I like to carry my 1911 the less weight the better for me, no rails no full dust cover, no full guide rods.

It's a sexy looking gun. I have a thing for rail 1911s.

I looked at these at SHOT. Very nice. IIRC, the one I looked at also had a threaded barrel with thread protector. Would look sweet with an x300 and suppressor on the front...
After purchasing a Lawman in 9mm this past spring/summer, it won't be the last STI purchase I make. Very underrated IMHO.

I got it about 4 years ago, after I had moved into a plain clothes assignment. I had carried my 1911 for years on patrol, but since I wasn't wearing a full duty belt anymore I wanted more mag capacity. I went with the 4.15 for ease of carry.
Almost 2 years ago my department started issuing us the M&P 40, and requiring we carry that while in uniform.
So, not wanting to keep switching back and forth between different pistols, I put this girl up. It's got mostly holster wear, and few rounds through it. I only shot it to qualify with it. I still used my 1911 for classes/schools and general all around shooting. I just love a single stack 1911. I could just never fall for this one.
It's a sweet shooting gun. Recoil is negligible, and it drives tacks. I was just going to hang on to it, but I have kicked myself for years, for not picking up an Operator when I had the chance.
