I have been carrying daily since 1981 and my answer is no.
I think the Glock 26 is as perfect as it gets to a conceal carry gun.
The G26 might not be the best handgun but I think it is the best conceal carry ever.

I do like the feel of a G26, but dont own one... yet! I'm going to carry a G19 (once the permit comes though... a couple more weeks!), which is just a slight bit larger but still easy to conceal. I've heard some say that the 9mm doesn't pack enough punch to conceal, but IMHO a clean shot with a 9mm will get the job done the same way... just less messy ;)

Perfect for you? Yes. Perfect period, no. Glock needs to remove the frontstrap finger humps. They don't fit my fingers and I hear this is common among those with big hands. Only the G20/G21 frames finger humps fit my fingers, the smaller frames do not.

Ahh.. yes i could see that. But don't guys with larger hands have problems will all subcompacts? I mean, i need a mag extender in order for my hands to fit around one and im only 5'11" 180lbs. I could see the issues with big mits and small weapons.

I am a Glock Fanboy, but my vote would go to the Walther PPS in 9mm. Some have referred to it as the single stack 9mm that Glock should have manufactured but didn't. YMMV.

I have a G23 (3rd Gen) and had the same issue with the finger humps. I ground them off and stippled and it works for me now.

For me, my LC9 is the perfect CC pistol (after installing a Galloway trigger kit). I do appreciate that the G26 is one of the best overall CC guns, just not for me.

I don't know that it qualifies as the best single choice but based on its size, longevity, reliability, and cost it is certainly among the best choices.

Yes! Smith & Wesson M&P9C

I had a Gen 3 G26 and I much prefer the M&P9C. Better ergonomics and 12 rd capacity is standard. Plus, like the G26's ability to use the G17/19 mags, you can use the FS M&P 17rd mags.

I'd vote for the Walther PPS as well. Although I sold mine and got a P229, that Walther is about as comfortable as any gun I have ever concealed, bar none. Notice how everyone is starting to make skinny single stacks now?

The G 26 is a fine CC pistol. If Glock made a pistol in the Kahr PM/CM 9 size I would surely buy it. Yes, G26 is the best CC pistol in my opinion. Case in point. I have taken my G26 swimming in the sandy creek a couple of times with no effect on the pistol, or ammunition. Having never swam with my CM9. I am not sure the same would be true for the Kahr. I disassembled my CM 9 yesterday for a detailed cleaning. This hasn't been done since last summer. I found a lot of rust around the back plate, and extractor plunger. The rust was due to body sweat. I have never had that problem with Glocks.

I like my G26 for concealed carry and it is my go to gun for concealed carry. However, I wish it was a bit thinner. I like the 10+1 capacity but I wear shirts and shorts when not at work and the gun makes more of an imprint against my shirt than I would like.

By slapping in a $100 Lonewolf 9mm barrel into your G27 -it pretty much becomes a G26. They are almost the same exact gun- same specs . I opted for the G27 because I can simply switch barrels and go from shooting 40 to 9 or 357 in seconds, its like 3 guns in one! Cant switch barrels on a G26. It was a no brainer for me.

I don't like the guns that are so compact that I can't get my whole hand on the grip. I shoot so much better with a full grip that it's worth it to make the commitment to carrying a little larger gun.

Its a great choice for carry, very concealable, 10+1, very controllable. I use it rotating with my G19. I can understand the finger groove issue some have with Glocks, I just sanded mine down.

The G26 as perfect carry gun?

For some, yes. For me, NO. My G9 is a better carry gun. Even my Kahr K9 is a better carry gun. I've also been eyeing the Sig 239.

I've got a J-frame 642. The Sig 938 is smaller, has better sights, is easier to shoot well (better trigger), holds more rounds (5 vs 8), and 9mm is more potent than 38 special.

Ever thought of buying a "drop-in" 9mm barrel and magazine?

A G-27 can also accept a .357 Sig "drop-in" barrel, using the same G-27 .40 cal magazine.

Sorry for repeating this info.

I carry a full size 1911 daily, but in the HOT summer I switch over to my G27 as my primary (it's usually my BUG that's on my ankle).

When I use it as my primary, I can hide it anywhere and not print at all. I carry two back up mags, one is a G22 mag with a Xgrip sleeve, the other is a 22 rounder. It's a perfect setup for me.

Perfect is relative.

If you want the thinnest 9mm, then no.

If you want to pocket carry.... Not so much.

If you want an external safety..... Nope.

If you want a larger caliber than 9mm....the 26 isn't for you.

I carry one and like it, but all have been looking for a Shield for 6 months simply for the thinness.

The perfect "all around" CC gun is the Glock 27. Aside from 40 caliber, you can also make it 9mm or 357 SIG. Add a black threaded barrel and you start to make it tacticle, not to mention it's extended magazine capibilty in all those calibers. You can always add spacers from A&G to make the grip more comfortable. Nothing better.

Is there a more perfect conceal carry gun than a Glock 26?

Depends who's involved and making that decision.

As a firearms instructor I've seen at least my fair share of shooters whose hand size & finger length made the subcompact Glock 26 (and 27) difficult for them to handle securely & confidently, let alone shoot well. They can't be blamed for their hand-size, can they? Training & practice can help resolve and mitigate a number of things, but you can't change your hand size and finger reach.

Most of those folks were able to find other small pistols which suited them much better, and with which they were able to shoot better, and thereby have confidence in handling & manipulating under stress.

I like my pair of G26's (or I wouldn't own 2 of them) ... and my G27 ... but I have other 9's & .40's of similar size which I find offer some features and preferable ergonomics which allows me to more easily use them under the stresses involved in demanding drills.

That's me. Other folks will have their own experiences and opinions. Which is as it should be, right?

I do tend to think the G26 is one of the best offerings within the Glock lineup ...

I like my 26, but because of it's thickness I think my 1911 Officers size actually carries more comfortably. My S&W 340 conceals easier, and my P3AT is great for carrying in places where it might get exposed to harsh conditions that I wouldn't want to subject a "nice" handgun to.

The one area where the subs really shine is when you have to bend over for a daily task. I found this out when my daughter was born. Tending to her with a compact Glock printed terribly when worn IWB but the subs could easily pass for a phone or supertool in the same circumstances.

I love the 26 and 27 but to carry I'm just lazy I guess. They are still heavy. The 26 at about 27 ounces loaded is no fun for me to carry all day! May as well carry the 17, it's only 5 ounces heavier with 7 more rounds !! But like I said I'm lazy, thats why I carry the S&W Bodyguard. It loads out at about 13.5 ounces and is hard to detect. I do carry the 17 though, depending on where I'm going and what I am wearing. I'm hoping to avoid a fire fight and carry for defensive purposes.

It's what I carry. I have not found any better. Too small and they are difficult to work , bigger means heavier too ( look at loaded weight , not empty. 4 oz vs a g 19 and it feels like more) the biggie for myself is appendix carry. The longer G19 digs into to me when sitting the 26 does not.

I am a Glock Fanboy, but my vote would go to the Walther PPS in 9mm. Some have referred to it as the single stack 9mm that Glock should have manufactured but didn't. YMMV.

I have one, nice pistol. My only dislike is the mag release. Much different then any other semi-auto I own.

I have been carrying daily since 1981 and my answer is no.
I think the Glock 26 is as perfect as it gets to a conceal carry gun.
The G26 might not be the best handgun but I think it is the best conceal carry ever.

Absolutely.. With the Pierce pinky extension it's hard to beat it for CCW.

It's still the 26 for me!

IMHO the "best" carry gun is the one that you always carry. The one that fits your hand best; the one that points best for you; the one that shoots to point of aim and is the most accurate for you; the one that you are confident is reliable enough to bet your life on. And personal preference dictates those attributes for each of us. My training and experience of over 40 years makes me confident that I can meet all of those attributes with each caliber Glock that I own. Otherwise, I will not carry it.

I am odd man out on this thread, but Ruger LCR .38 is my regular carry...naked and alone in a front pocket. I've tried various pocket holsters, but drawing the holster with the gun is...disconcerting to say the least.

Glock 26 isn't a bad choice, but not the best, for me.
I prefer the Colt Defender for subcompact CCW. Slim, light and eight rounds of .45 ACP on tap.
I also prefer the 1911 trigger/thumb safety.

I've always had a G17, carried a G19 some. Recently picked up a G26, love that gun I'd give up the 17&19 to keep the 26. I am really excited about the G30S.

I think when people take the G26, add stuffs to it like pinkie extenders, +2 mags, etc. they are in effect saying that the G26 is NOT perfect.

I carry the G29. Now that's PERFECTLY... too much in some venue.:wow:

I'm for glock 26, and 19 in the colder weather. Still love my 1911's, and play with them frequently. Just feel really comfortable with Glock's reliability. Recently went to a 5 day class with 2 of my 1911's. after several small issues (all fixed) i decided glocks for the serious stuff, 1911s for range play. Just me.

I own a G26, but there are times when it's too heavy, or thick. Enter the Kimber Solo Carry. Don't get me wrong, a lot of times I just don't see the need to even carry a compact. Enter the 1911 Government Model.

Sorry to say but no. Glock 27 is better. 9mm just is too small. With .40 you get a bigger round that's has more size and mass than a 9mm and more velocity than a .45. And it's still light on recoil for quick effective shot placement. And I only loose 1 round in the magazine as compared to the 26, worth it IMO.

Not to mention I can have my 27 shoot 9mm or a couple of different calibers that I cannot think of right now if I really wanted to with a simple barrel and magazine change. More options.

But that's my opinion.

There is not.

I've carried a 19, 21, and even a 34 (friend's gun, wanted to see how it felt)... they're all doable, but the 26 requires zero effort to conceal, aside from putting it in a holster.

So, yet again I spent time working with a guy who has just switched from his long-carried G26 over to a new production M&P 9c.

He quickly acclimated himself to the different trigger, and then amazed himself with the practical accuracy during a qual course-of-fire and a number of shooting drills using duty 124gr +P loads. All I did was clean, inspect & lube it for him right out of the box.

The M&P's are continuing to make serious inroads among Glock carriers in my neck of the woods.
