I'm curious/interested in the caliber and I would like to know what you guys think. Is it a dead caliber or do you think it will stick around for the long haul?

Also, if you didn't own a hunting rifle would you consider this caliber?

One of my MAIN requirements is that my rifle has iron sights and this narrows it down as most calibers only come in rifles that don't have iron sights.

I shy away from proprietary calibers. There as many other cartridges that do the same job the .300 RCM. With oddball calibers, unless you handload, you cannot be guarenteed a steady supply of ammo.

I probably wouldn't buy the rifle unless it was a smokin deal & i could double my money if ammo turned out to be a problem.

It has iron sights and it's a good deal which is why I asked, Ruger M77 Hawkeye stainless with iron sights for $532

There just aren't many rifles these days that come with iron sights. But I think you guys are right about the caliber being too "special". They have 99+ in stock and they are probably old stock because I think they introduced the caliber several years ago.
