Hello, new gun owner here. I'm looking for a good quality range bag. Looking to hold two to three guns, ammo, cleaning kit, mags and all the other essential accessories to head out to the range.. I've been looking at the 5.11 range qualifier bag but not sure if I want to go with a over the shoulder bag or a tactical back pack.

Thanks..

I like using tool bags; bucket boss, clc, etc. A decent average size one is around $20

If it has to be an actual range bag Midway USA makes some that are popular

Ditto! I love my Midway USA range bag. They have some excellent sales at times throughout the year when the prices are even more reasonable than normal.

I don't use anything that looks like a range bag. Soft side coolers, tackle boxes, anything but a range bag. Camera bags are nice, many have fleece linings and come with velcro edged panels so you can create compartments inside. Of course cameras are only slightly less thief bait than guns.

Right now I am using a couple of Sears Craftsman tool bags, they came in a two pack, one large and one small, for a very reasonable price. Red and Black, says Craftsman on the side, does not say "Hit my owner on the head and steal a couple thousand dollars of guns and ammo." Ammo on the bottom in a layer, then tools like the stapler etc then a pistol rug, muffs etc. For serious range days I have a big Black and Decker tool box, 20+" long. That holds a rolled up carpet sample for the bench, binos, tools, some cleaning stuff etc.

I use a Harbor Freight tool bag that completely does not scream RANGE BAG.

$15, works fine.

I have a Gorilla box for more serious range days.

I have the MidwayUSA $49 special, I think it was $39 when I bought it. I compared it with one at a LGS (Blackhawk I think) that was identical, but was priced $110 or so.

It's been a good bag.

I would go with the MidWay USA bags if I could not find something local I liked.

Rolltide,

Do you have the competition bag which is the compact one? Looking to hold two to three guns, six mags or more, ammo, ear, eyes, targets and whatever else.

EDE, how do you like the 5.11 bag?? I've been looking at the qualifier bag for my Glock as well.

All the guys I shoot with, and myself, use the Midway bags. Both sizes are handy to have.

I use the one I got with my NRA membership. It's more of a small duffel bag, but it works.

I debated between the large and medium and ended up selecting the medium size. It is has plenty of room and the quality is fantastic.

stanley fat max tool bag from wal mart. $20.

holds a LOT. 3 pairs of ears, extra glasses, 4 pistols with mags, stapler, etc.

between that and an ammo can with bullets divided into crown royal bags, i'm good to go.

I use the 5.11 bag and I love it. Lots of room for multiple guns and anything else you'll need. Picked it up from Amazon for around $95 or so.

I got this as a gift and use it as a range bag. Works good and more pockets than I can count. I can fit at least 3 normal size pistols in there. Looks like it's on sale for $20 even.

I see other have said it and I agree a bag that does not say "gun!"in this day and age is a good idea. I use all kinds of very Un- tactical bags to keep things low profile. No one is going to suspect a gun and ammo is in my Mickey Mouse lunch box!
I like to go small, using a small bag just big enough for my planned shooting. Big bags can be a real pain to lug around and you the. Tend to carry a bunch of crap you don't need and what you do need gets lost in the shuffle. I have seen a number of episodes when guys with these big gorilla bags show up for a match and realize they put the wrong mags in the bag, and did 't notice as they was so much other crap in there

L. A. Police gear has some bags that work well and sell for $20. I have bought 3 of there bags. I use 2 for stuff I keep in the car and truck. The other one is for my G.H.B..

I also have a Midway range bag. It works well and is built well. I just don't like there name on the front of it. The last one I have is a Bull Dog and it is well made and will carry a lot of stuff and it only cost $30. It is what I use to go to the range when I am going to a range away from home.

We probably have the same one. It's been great for years. Plenty of space and its all modular so you can put pieces in or take em out to fit your needs

I used a bright blue Dillon Precision range bag for many years until I realized it pretty much screamed "RANGE BAG!!!"

Now I just use an old Adidas gym bag. Works just as well, doesn't look as dorky, doesn't advertise that guns are inside.

This is the same exact bag I use. Trust me i've got lots of crap and the shoulder strap is "sticky" on a jacket so you are not chasing after it while walking in or out of the range. I got it oh maybe christmas before last....lgs had a black friday sale so I snagged it up then. And if you are worried about being non_descript there is no obvious logo on the outside to attract attention. And with the shoulder strap its easy to drop and get access to your carry gun that should always be on you while at the range and not used anyways.

THis.
I use an eddie bauer diaper bag. Who wants to steal a diaper bag? It's perfect though, since it has so many pockets and storage. It holds all my handguns, ammo, eyes/ears, cleaning stuff, mags, targets, markers, tape and holsters! love it

About 5-6 years ago or so my wife bought me the 5.11 Range Bag - love it!

Used to have a Waller & Son Range bag - was a good bag, lasted for 15 years or so, then zipper died :crying:

My wife has been using a Dillon range bag since 1995 or so, she has had to replace the shoulder strap, but the bag is still going strong.
