My fiancÚ is a fan of dresses in the summer and doesn't carry a purse so we are looking to purchase her a thigh carry hand gun. I'm not crazy about the idea of a thigh carry at all but I'm a lot less crazy about the idea of her being unarmed.

Anyway she's leaning toward a Diamondback 9mm. We are pretty set on a 9mm. Neither of us are interested in a .380. So what is everyone's thoughts on the Diamonback? Good or bad? Also, any other suggestions? Thanks guys.

There's a chick on YouTube, faliaphotography. She has good videos for carry options for women with different modes of dress. :wavey:

I would point you to a Kahr like the PM9 or CM9 instead of a Diamonback.

I have not read too much good about the Diamondback, but maybe someone with a good one will post.

The Kahr PM9 or CW9 is the obvious choice. Easy enough to shoot (for the moderately experienced person), but the slide can be a bit tricky for smoothly getting that first round chambered. Not the biggest concern if you carry chambered.

I don't know about thigh carry, and only have my imagination there. Not something my wife would do. She's more likely to go with a belly band if IWB was not an option.

When I ankle carry, I go with my Ruger LCP, even though I know you said the .380 is out. With my PM9, I'll typically IWB. Fully loaded, the LCP is 12.1 versus 19.8 ounces for the PM9.

It can't hurt to have an LCP around :) Solves lots of carry issues. But my wife would rather shoot the PM9 than the LCP, because the LCP recoil actually feels snappier.

Please do research before you buy a Diamondback. Better choices are available.

Also might try looking at the Sig 938. Small (and a little snappy because of that) but well built gun and 100% reliable with decent ammo.

I had a Diamondback.
One of the worst guns ever and I've had hundreds of guns.

You are correct, if shooter is left handed, holster should be inside of the right thigh.

That channel was a big help for my wife.
