I'm getting quite a collection of extra magazines for my various pistols. Many seem to end up tossed in my range bag...but, I can't think it's really good for them to be clanking around in there in the long run. How do you store your extras (that aren't filled with cartridges) ?

One of the drawers under my cleaning bench is reserved for handgun magazines.

I ended up getting a lot crazy the last few years...

I have one safe that has JUST magazines for many handguns and rifles and they are stored color coded on shelves and inventoried on the door with a list of what the heck they are.
AND I have an Iphone app to cover it because I started buying a lot more and lost track of what I had...

They are extra's ONLY because I'm not right in the head. BUT it is what it is.

It should NOT be this way...

I've heard many times I am a gun nut from a few

I have a shelf that has them all on it. I only take what I need to the range with me.

I'm starting to get a little of that myself. But, I figure we likely have a limited time to get what we want in the way of mags...

I have a few of these larger plano boxes that I keep mags in, each box is caliber specific.

I also bought one of the smaller plano field boxes (fit better in safe)and made a wood divider for it to hold mags. Plan on making up a few more. heres my thread on it.

Storage bins on wall, between safe and loading bench. 3 inch screws into studs , large bins for rifle mid size for handguns , small for clips and speed loaders.

That's awesome...unfortunately...I don't think I'm handy enough to make the wooden grid :embarassed:

Or you can take some foam, cut it fit the container, then cut squares in the foam.

Insert mags in squares, and there you go.

extras are in cardboard boxes.

I keep 6 of each brand/caliber/size that I use in a range bag in custom made pouches. They are designed so they can be carried on the belt, but I never put them on my belt. They were made by a member here called "Retread" though I'm unaware of his/her current status.

Tuff products makes a similar product in 5 or 8 mag capacity.

stock picture of "tuff" brand product b/c I don't have a picture of mine.

ETA: pics of mine. I noticed tuff brand mags are sideways, which would be odd to me if you were drawing them. Mine can be orientated either bullets forward or back. The flap doesn't come off mine

I'm thinking of trying foam on the next. Figured the pick and pull foam would work well. Or even some think cardboard for the grid.

My experience with foam has been bad.
I've seen the stuff break down and get weird on things it's meant to protect, even stain it. I think it's because it's a petroleum distillate - perhaps the product is better nowadays but, it's done me bad with things I've put up in it.

Other than the ones that are in my pistols I carry 10-12 loaded in my 9mm bag and 10-12 loaded in my .40 bag which goes in my vehicle daily. Others are stored in the house.

Cardboard boxes that something else came in. They are segregated as to caliber.

Most of mine are in a box on the top shelf in a closet. The rest are hiding in Chris Costa's beard with Elvis, Tupac, and DB Cooper.

Call me stupid, but mine ARE in the range-bag in a pocket that seems to fit quite well.

I keep 2 in the Fobus mag holder and three in the pocket. Oh yeah, one topped off in the G23.

The magazines that I use most often (10 rounders for range use, practice mags, and rifle mags) I keep in a Stack-On lockbox:

Mags for guns I no longer own, extra standard cap mags, and a few high dollar mags (Factory HK MP5 & Colt 9mm AR mags) I keep in a wooden crate:

Generally speaking I'm a minimalist. I keep an extra mag or two on my person. I keep 2-3 others along with a box of ammo in a BOB that will get me to a close friends house (if needed) where we share a safe that is truly safe. I like to keep it simple and honestly hate having ANYTHING I don't really need immediately around me.

I started storing them in a dufflebag, then MTM plastic ammo cans, now pretty much wherever I have room.

I have only one extra mag for each handgun, so it's not a problem. I have one speedloader for each revolver. I have no fear of being in a prolonged shootout with a huge gang.

Rubbermaid or Glad storage bins work well. I use them along with a divided Pelican case.

Large plastic storage bins, the problem is I can't put more than 80 AK mags in one before it's too heavy to put on a shelf.

wherever I can find room. I probably have 200 + SPARE magazines for the rifles and pistols. I know it seems like a lot, but they are "necessary to the security of a free state":whistling:

At the moment, I keep 'extra' magazines in zip-lock bags, with one of those desiccant packs closed up with them, locked in a cabinet.
Calibers stored separately.

I suppose the way 'things' are going, I should get another safe to keep magazines and ammo secured.
(Ammo is almost as valuable as firearms, now!):wow:
