Been looking at getting a kimber 1911, really wanting a covert II, eclipse II or tactical II. Was wanting trade my bushmaster carbon AR for one, seems impossible to find any of those 3 models locally. One guy did offer a pro carry II, just wondering what everyone thought about the deal, slight holster ware from what the guy said other that good.

No way would I trade an AR for any Kimber right now in this market. You could probably get at least 15-1600 right now given all the pending legislative actions - more depending on mag count. Not to mention if a real AWB does somehow get slipped through, you may not get a chance to replace that Bushy. The 8 shot kimbers are not in any real jeopardy and you will have plenty of time to get one. Not to mention it isnt even the model you started looking for.

Haha, have you had problems in the past or heard bad things about them?

Yep,......I had one that was a POS
Several here have had issues. It is a light duty plinker at best.

Sell the AR. You'll be able to get a new Kimber if you want. Or a Baer, maybe.

Huh. I'd think selling an AR right now would be easier than selling a cupcake to a fat kid.

+1 the AR market is nuts.

Selling a Bushmaster Carbon AR is a major undertaking.

Somebody wants to trade me their 2000 Yamaha banshee for my gun, pretty random trade and I don't know much about 4wheelers

$1,500 - 1,600 for aluminum AR... for a Carbon-15? I'd be on that in a heartbeat. No offense - they just don't command the premium prices. You can now get a Colt for $1,500 - 1,600 NIB, but I'd think if you were selling a Carbon, it'd be lower.

The super premium prices might have eased, but I still agree with Ice.

I'd do the trade and ask for 200 on top. The worst he can say is no. Maybe he'd meet you in the middle with 100 on top.

Had another guy offer me $800 and a Winchester model 70 for my gun and 500 rounds of federal 5.56. From what I've seen that model with synthetic stock isn't worth much. All I want is a damn kimber eclipse of covert II :crying:

Although I'm not very old, if I've learned anything in my few years of procuring toys for my favorite hobbies (obsessions?) it's not to settle.

Settling for anything less than what you truly, and realistically of course, desire will only cost you additional time and money. You'll never be satisfied with less than what you want. I learned this the hard way but I believe I'm better off because of it.

I'm not trying to "preach" but only speak from a lot of experience and a lot of observation.

Another minor detail - I'd recommend going with a new 1911. You really don't want to end up with a used piece that someone has filed on. It's unfortunate. It happens. Your "like-new" 1911 going FA will ruin your day. (Never happened to be but I've seen it go down)

I stand by my previous suggestion, considering your capital, that you can procure a Baer from Crazy John with little-to-no cash out of your pocket if you act soon - while AR buyers are still panicking.

JUST MY OPINION.

Sound advice. Junk ARs, parts, and mags are STILL going for ridiculous prices here locally.

I keep getting screwed, people say they want to buy it but not until the weekend bc of work/money then other people make offers. Tell them would have to wait to see if the deal falls thru, and the past couple times they do then the other interested party has already bought a different one.

Simple, don't hold anything for anyone. First one with cash gets it. Sucks that you can't take people for their word but it's the reality. The "wife got mad" excuse is always entertaining..

Take a few pictures and list it for sale here and on AR15.com
Quit screwing around with local deals that fall through.

Yea it's pretty sad, not gonna get mad if you email asking and trying to barter with stuff, but wasting 3 or 4 days of my time pisses me off.

Everyone must have got paid today, received quite a few emails tonight. One trying to trade a Springfield A-1, another with a colt possibly and some with cash, might get lucky

I'd try to sell it first before just trading it.
