Local store only has large pistol magnum primers in that size. Any reasons to not use them in me 1911 pistols? These are not race guns.

Thanks.

You would get a much better response to this question in the Reloading forum. No one in here actually shoots their 1911's.They are just for posting pretty internet pictures...:whistling:

I use them with a light BlueDot load, plated 230g bullet, no worries.

I wouldn't hesitate to use them for any .45 ACP gun. I believe that Winchesters large pistol primers apply to both magum and standard loads. That being said, I wouldn't use them on some ++++P+++++ load I worked up in my basement that is already close to blowing my guns apart!

Using a mag primer in any load can be ok, as long as you do it right. If you are loading at or near max, you should back it off a little and work back up with the mag primers. If you are loading a mouse fart load anyway, you dont have to worry about pressure.

I've used them a bunch of times with no issues, they should add 20-25 fps to the same load with standard primers.

I bought a 1m box of mag LP primers, and will start testing whenever the snow melts . . . thanks for the info!
