First of all I'll start off that its my weekend and I have been drinking. I work nights so I have to stay on schedule, and stay up late. T.V. video games and drinking usually helps me stay up. Anywho, I bought a Remington 525 value pack last weekend at a LGS. It was on a shelf behind a counter so I didn't handle it until I got out of the store. Once in the car I noticed that the box was a little beat up and taped closed.

So tonight I was bored and decided to count how many were actually in the box. Only 513. ugh... I'm slightly perturbed that I was shorted 12 rounds ($3.84 according to gunbot.net's cheapest round) but with the scarcity in todays market I think it's warranted.

Not really going anywhere with this but I'm not sure if it was due to the beat up box, or Remington's counting. Anyone ever had the time to count out a 525 value pack?:drunk::cheers:

I've bought tons of Federal and Remington bulk packs over the years and always wondered if they gave you a little more or less than advertised on the box but I never sat there and counted. I just bought three more Remington 525 packs at Walmart last week and if I find some time later (i'm at work now), I just may count out a box to help with your question.

On a side note, I know that both Montana Gold and Precision Delta always have given me about 10 more bullets (give or take a couple) than adveritsed. I put my reloaded rounds in 100 round containers and always have that many more at the end.

I've already heard its a +/- thing. Never been bored enough to verify myself though.

Its done by weight, so it could be off. A friend runs a very large cast bullet company here in the midwest, he packages by weight then adds what should be 25 bullets to every box, just to be sure.

How much did you pay?

Also, ive done this a few times when i was younger. I remember i usually got more than advirtised but that was in better times.

I also remember counting some 9mm WWB packs and occasionally getting one or two extra rounds. But after I turned 18 I didnt care much.

just shy of 60$. I would like to add that this is the 1st time in about 2 months that I have been able to find 22 locally.

ETA: Actually I paid the same for a 325 pack of cci mini mags about a month ago. But it was only available to people who paid to use the range.

With those Remingtons, by the time you take out the duds, you'll be short about 70 rounds.

You might be right steve. But I've had good luck with their performance in the past. Only time will tell...

I shot a lot of .22s in my youth. I found the rate was about 1% duds back then.

Nowadays it's 3 or 4 % & cuts across all brands, don't know why :frown:

F'it. I'm ordering hte Aguila from CMP. Just crazy to pay the current prices. I'll overpay in the long run (5,000 rounds), but I'll know I have plenty.

Sheesh. $60? Heck, the best ONLINE deal is $120 or so. WHAT?!?!?!?!?!

EDIT - MARGLEFARGLE! Club purchases only. :(

Let's go, ammomakers!!!!!

I know that the 9MM WWB Walmart sells have had 101 rounds.

I discovered it when I loaded up three 33 round Glock mags -

I had 2 rounds left - figured I must have loaded one mag a round short - but they all had 33.

I checked a few boxes and they all had 101.

Never bothered counting .22 bulk -

Are you sure you counted correctly?:whistling:

For what it's worth... On my last purchase of four 100 count value packs of WWB 9mm, each box contained exactly 102 bullets. I thought that was interesting.

I'm not going to pay current prices. If I see them at normal prices I'll pay. Problem is I can't find them.....

I'll sit on what I have and not shoot .22 till things get normal again. Hopefully later in the Summer I hope. We will see.

just shy of 60$.
I second, 'Holy crap".

Since the shortage started I've given away about 3,500 22LR rounds in Wal Mart 550 bulk packs and CCI 100 round boxes.

Have to take care of your friends but when things return to normal we are going to have a talk about them stocking up their own ammo.

My experience with 9mm WWB is always on the plus side (101-102 with a rare 103 thrown in).

Federal .22 AutoMatch is mostly always right on with a stray on the plus side.

Federal bulk is also on the plus side. Three or four.

I'm a little OCD and always load my different 9s with multiples of 5 (Glock 34 with 15, CZ with 20) so when I get to the end of the box I would see any shortage or overage. With the .22s they are all 10 round mags (S&W 41, 10/22 & 22/25) and I always load 10. I can't remember ever having a short box. I have never counted them.

I shot today (.22) and while I had 500 rounds in my M-22 Winchester box, I had 4 FTFs and one FTE. The FTFs wouldn't fire after 3 tries. They could have left those out of the box and it would have saved me time.:whistling:

That's better than the price at the local gun show here 2 weeks ago.... $84.95 for the Federal Value Pack. Price gougers are killing us.

I've never wanted to shoot so bad that I'd pay $85 freaking dollars to fire a .22.

I don't even think I'd pay $85 to shoot a belt of M60 if the opportunity arrose.

But then again I'm probably the cheapest guy here.

On a bright note...
I think ammo is starting to come back.
The two Wal-Marts I frequent have been showing a little more stock of the hard to get stuff.
This morning at 0515 I scored three 100 rnd boxes of CCI Mini Mags, for $8 a box!
Recent trips have netted WWB 100 rnd .40, Tula 9mm and Tula .223 at great prices.

I repack the RGB 525 bulk packs into 100-round plastic trays for easy range access. They routinely come up 2-3 rounds short. Such is life.

I agree. I almost bought it, but then couldn't quite bring myself to do it. What sucks is I bought my 2 .22 pistols for cheap shooting/plinking last year. I hope those prices come down and the supply becomes plentiful again.

Yeah.

10c a pop is what I was accustomed to paying to shoot 9mm .... :frown:
