When "progressives" lose a legislative fight they keep pressing, conniving and trying to end run to a victory, but if they win it becomes "settled law" which they won't permit to be revisited.

From the article: ( I think trafficking can be the base of the bill, the rock on which everything else stands, [Senator Kirsten E. Gillibrand] said. I also think its complementary to background checks because, lets be honest, criminals arent going to buy a gun and go through a background check. So if you really want to go after criminals, you have to do [background checks].

HUH!???! I took a smattering of writer's license with her quote, but it is what she actually said without all the confusing rhetoric.

From the article: ( Next week when Congress is in recess, gun control groups coordinating with the Obama committee Organizing for Action will be fanning out across the country in dozens of demonstrations at the offices of senators who voted down the background check bill.

Don't you love knowing that barry soetoro is still a change agent for a communistic takeover of this country?

Keep writing your representatives! Let them know that these demonstrators and the pressure from the administration are not representative of the people's voice, or our beliefs.

They will do anything to disrupt the true course of America to their own personal requirements.
I once met a legal professor who demonstrated to me how to prove that black was white by documented definition using Websters Dictionary: all one needed to do would be to have that resource admitted as being the definitive source and away we go. Same with anything, attorneys argue adnauseaum over the placement of a comma so they later use that to their advantage in getting something passed.
Dont even get me started on the " this bill is " the protection of the turtles" " where they add something totally unrelated to it>>>thats how they are going to get this passed.
We need to vote them all out>>> everytime

So if criminals aren't going to go through a background check when they buy a gun, what makes her think that they suddenly will if she makes a new background check law?

"Senators Joe Manchin III, Democrat of West Virginia, and Patrick J. Toomey, Republican of Pennsylvania, have been talking in recent days about how they could persuade more senators "

Uh, the bipartisan group of senators are the same 2 from last time???

That's like "a group of Washington leaders wants this pushed through fast." Yeah, Obama and Biden. That's a group, right?

Good point. It expired well before Huntley and Brinkley.

This thread kind of dovetails with this link...

Who didn't see it coming?

Polls show 90% of Americans support increased background checks.

Anyone see one of these polls? Not the results but the questions that were answered to get the responses.

"Would you support increased background checks to insure that no more elementary school shootings will occur?"

"Do you support measures to make it harder for criminals to get guns".
