Article says the red 64 Chevelle seen in Pulp Fiction was actually owned by Tarantino, and was stolen during movie production. Police just found it 19 years later.

I wonder if Travolta's line in the movie about catching the MF-er that keyed his chevelle was a reference to the theft of the car?

I have owned my Chevelle for over 20 years, glad it wasn't on loan to a criminal for 19 of them.

Was it keyed?

Gotta respect a man with a Malibu. Lol

I hate they still use that classic name for the curren abomination. Ditto for the Impala.

Sucks for the guy that got defrauded and thought he bought a legit car. Cloning a VIN number and all the purchaser probably ran the VIN and thought it was for sure clean. Glad that Tarantino gets his car back!

When I first became an auto claims adjuster, I got a call from a guy that had his 1959 Corvette stolen in 1977.

We paid him the current value of the vehicle of $3500.

He was at a car show and found his Corvette 30 years later. He called the police who verified it was his and it was impounded.

As the insurance company, we were the now rightful owners. He wanted to pay us back the $3500 and take ownership of the vehicle.

I transferred the call to a young female total theft adjuster who informed me we would just keep the car and sell it for salvage; "who would want such an old car, anyways??" was her statement...:faint:

I feel bad for the then-current owner who was out of the $70k the car was worth, but I hope the original owner got his car back...

I've known of a fellow who had his 70s Ford truck stolen. It had been gone for 2-3 years when we stopped it one night. The new owner had bought it from a friend who had bought it from a used car lot. The registration was off by the letter S that was a 5 or vice versa. Cant remember. That's how it had gone through the sale etc.

The old owner gets the truck back and it has been fixed up with a new engine and restoration.
