The choices are BS. There should be an option to have less strict gun control laws.

Congress should do the same thing about gun control as they should do about most other things: nothing.

Wow. 87 percent says leave as they are.

Very encouraging. I know people slam PBS, but they do attempt to discuss topics in an intelligent manner, which I can't say is the same on most of TV and radio. It is nice to have a rational forum for critical thinking available.

Total freedom is not necessarily good. I'll toss that out there (think of all of the crazy people out there). If you're an anarchist, then you'll disagree with me, but I like some amount of Law and Order.

Somehow I don't think the poll is going as they expected.

On a side note. Its hilarious to see all of these media polls be so heavily against more gun control laws, yet liberals and their enablers in the media continue to claim more people want gun control.

Edit to add: Some surprisingly good comments there too.

I am one of the evil that voted to improve background checks. I don't need felons getting guns. There is no reason to have a background check if you are going to have big holes in it. Simple solution is to put an endorsement on your drivers license. Then they do not know if or what guns you have purchased, no wait and no cost to the gun buyer. The mental portion is too slippery of a slope, I cannot think of any objective criteria that would not grow to include 99% of all people.

Who cares - it's a self selecting Internet poll that means nothing. PBS expects and wants people to post it on forums and drive people to it. The whole point of these types of polls is to generate page hits.

Where to begin?

First, I am not a conservative. I am a libertarian. Second, the Second Amendment was not ratified in 1776. None of the Bill of Rights was around then. The States ratified them in 1791.Third, before the National Firearms Act of 1934 you could buy a Thompson or BAR through the mail and have it delivered through the mail COD.

I finally see where the media got their 90% of Americans want more gun control number.

Now follow this logic:

Expand background checks, ban assault weapons and limit the capacity of magazines (3%, 517 Votes)
Only expand background checks (3%, 397 Votes)

so 3%+3% = 6%.

But the PBS intern was using a tablet and was holding the tablet upside down so it became 9%.

But sadly this intern was also dyslexic, and moved the decimal point over to the right one digit. . And that is how the media got their 90%

And that's how 6% = 90%

False premise. Repealing the government guns laws does not equal total freedom. Total freedom doesn't exist.

More importantly, no gun control laws have ever and will never prevented murder. They can't. All gun control laws effectively do is inhibit people from being able to to defend themselves.
