At Amelia Island with the kids this weekend (just north of Jacksonville, FL). At the beach I ended up parked right next to the Batmobile.

A while later, the owner came along and offered to let my daughter sit in it for a photo or two

I chatted with him briefly, and he said it was one of the props used for the actual filming of the show back in the 60's. I don't know how true that is, and a quick Googling suggests it might have been BS, but I'm going to choose to believe it for now since my daughter is super stoked by the idea that she talked on the actual Batphone that Batman once used...

That thing is most likely all show. Still cool though.

That would be cool to own no matter if it is genuine or a replica.

Thats before my time. I would be stoked to own a DeLorean with a flux capacitor. I was 14 in 1985. I loved that movie!!!

He must live in the area, because I saw his car a couple of years ago at this seafood joint in Callahan, which is in the same county as Amelia Island.

They didn't make a whole lot for the show, and if I had one, I don't think I'd be using it as a "daily driver" or even a weekend beach-car, but I guess anything's possible. Either way, pretty damn cool, and I bet your girl will be talking about it for a while.

Sure say that when he squirts oil out the back and you go sailing off the cliff, let us know how that went. Lol

DD, cute little one you've got there! Keep your guns loaded; boys'll be 'a knockin' before you know it. :)

Did you ding his door with yours and it made a little cartoon "Pow!" when it hit?

Cool, the original sold for about 3 million a couple of months ago. They built a few look-alikes for car show displays and PR stuff but I think only 4 were actually made by Burris. Still quite rare to see!

$4.2 million

The original was a one-off, hand-made Lincoln Futura concept car ($1/4 million, built in Italy, and sold to George Barris for $1.00), then he made 2 fiberglass replicas for screen use, and one more for drag racing.

So, yeah, the odds are pretty good one of them is not going to be someone's beach cruiser....

Bill Powell may be along any time now to tell you that the hero BMs were covered in suede or some such at one point.

Those are some cool pics. Was one of these the guy?

Of all the Bats, I liked Keaton the best.
But of all the cars, West's was the baddest.
JMHO/YMMV.
