I'm not savvy in the ways of politics and deals and such. Could some of you educated guys speculate as to what is going on here?

I think they're trying to pass "gun-control" but that's just a guess! LOL

When Harry Reid voted against the orginal bill, he was able to shelf it so he could bring it back at another date! It's one of the perks of being the head dog in the Senate.

It was never dead and buried!

So why do they think they can get it through now? It JUST failed. Something must have changed, it can't be a good thing.

We knew the enemy was just dropping back and regrouping, not leaving the battlefield in defeat.

Me too. All we've ever asked for was to be left alone.

I suspect they have strong-armed a few more to vote for it.

Ummmmmmmmmm..... since they're asking for a Mulligan on the anti-gun Bill, I want a Mulligan on the 2012 General Election.

Sounds fair, doesn't it?????

The democrats are saying the same thing about the dems who voted against the bill.
I guess we better dig in again.

The guess I would make: they are placating the left-wing ANTI-gun constituency.

In December, knowledgeable Washington sources claim the White House people leaned hard on the major anti-gun groups to be quiet, docile, and go along with whatever the WH came up with, if the groups wanted to retain "access to the decision process". Virtually all these groups went along with that deal. That is, I believe, why little has been heard from the other side's advocacy crowd.

Well, those groups lost BIGTIME on the following events. NOTHING made it through even the Senate! So those groups are now sitting there steamed at Obama, the WH staff, and the Senate, and they are probably ready to drop the original cooperation deal and go on a publicity warpath. Promising them that the bill will be resubmitted can keep those groups tied to their cooperative outlook for a while longer while elected leaders try again. Those elected leaders gotta be wondering might happen if the hard left decides they aren't worthy of support, votes, and contributions.

Something to always remember: the OTHER side has ITS OWN set of headaches!

I donated funds to the NRA after the bill was shelved. I hope the NRA kills it this time so I can donate some more.

This is a post from a far left site, a gun grabber. Concerning the universal background checks being added to the bill.

"The NRA's dream come true-obliterate the NY/NJ/Illinois/California laws and make it SC x 50

The fate of the entire universe is at stake. And that is not hyperbole. It might even be worse.

The NRA is on the verge of getting 100% of what it wants."

I don't think I'm breaking any rules on this, I hope not.

You want to put the DMV in charge of your CCW?
