I had the day off today, but my big plans were dashed by a sick kid home from school. I ended up doing a bunch of loading, all new to me loads.

9mm Xtreme 124gr HPCB, 4.36gr Universal, 1.140, Fio SP
.45acp Xtreme 200gr JHP, 4.2gr Clays, 1.235, CCI LP
.45acp Xtreme 200gr JHP 5gr WST 1.235, CCI LP
.38spl Xtreme 125gr FPWC 3.5gr Clays, 1.440, Fio SP
.38spl B&B 105gr FP 3gr Clays, 1.450, Fio SP
.38spl Falcon 125gr FP 3gr Clays, 1.450, Fio SP
.45acp Zero 230gr JHP 4.7gr WST, 1.230, CCI SP

In the abbreviations above, the Xtreme FPWC are flat point with cannelure, and B&B is Black and Blue Bullets (Hi-Tek coated cast lead).

The 9mm load is similar to what I've done with PD and MG 124gr bullets...so I'll be surprised if it's not right around 1050fps.

The rest are either things I've never tried or different enough, that I really don't know what they'll do.

With all the .38 and the 200gr .45, I'm hoping for somewhere around 800fps. The 230gr .45, I'm hoping for at least low 700s.

Those SP .45s are left over from a couple years ago, when I first loaded SP .45 and had several squibs. I ended up disassembling the rest of that batch of ammo, leaving the bullets and primed brass in a bin on my bench. I decided it was time to get them out of the way. The original load had been 3.85gr Clays. I'm hoping the larger mass of finer powder won't have the ignition issues I think I had with a light charge of Clays and small primers.

Hopefully I can get to the range sometime this weekend to chrono all these.

njl,
Thanks for posting your test results with these different bullets, seems like your loads are close to what I have been running.

I have never tried and of the Xtream brand of bullets, I have tested Barnes, Rainier, Speer, Precision Delta, Winchester (and 1 or 2 others) for 9mm. I settled on the 124g bullet and my average velocity comes inbetween 1,100/1,200 fps.

.38 special 158g w/LSWC average about 770 fps and just a bit less for Rainier bullets - same weight.
158g XTP bullets I run around 725 fps.
I have done some tests using Barnes 140g XPB HP and had those running average of 800 fps.

.45's Average 230g FMJ loads I run around 775-800 fps and 230 XTP loads I run a bit warmer around 840/850 fps.

Lover the range reports!

Keep test/posting - be safe out there

I haven't tested these yet, but I will post the results when I have.

Here's the results from today's chronographing:

9mm Xtreme 124gr HPCB, 4.36gr Universal, 1.140, Fio SP - 1083fps (G17), 1099fps (G34)

.45acp Xtreme 200gr JHP, 4.2gr Clays, 1.235, CCI LP - 764fps (G21)

.45acp Xtreme 200gr JHP 5gr WST 1.235, CCI LP - 786fps (G21)

.38spl Xtreme 125gr FPWC 3.5gr Clays, 1.440, Fio SP - 738fps

.38spl B&B 105gr FP 3gr Clays, 1.450, Fio SP - 672fps

.38spl Falcon 125gr FP 3gr Clays, 1.450, Fio SP - 723

.45acp Zero 230gr JHP 4.7gr WST, 1.230, CCI SP - 732fps (G21), 700fps (G30S)

As expected, the Xtreme 124gr 9mm bullets seem pretty much interchangeable with PD or MG jacketed bullets.

The 200gr JHP were very accurate and reasonably soft shooting. Looking again at published data, I don't know if it's possible to safely take these up to 800fps with Clays. WST might just get there.

The 105s were kind of disappointing. I may see if I can find a SASS-type looking to load some super-light cowboy loads. The extreme spreads with clays were huge. I wonder if they'd do better with a powder that fills the case more (like Trailboss).
