Anybody have any good loads for HS-6 in 44? Not a lot of info on here or anywhere. I found 2# of it and want to try some loads probably in the 1200-1300 FPS range. I am using Lee 240gr cast bullets, the only 240gr Hodgdon lists is a HP. Looks like 12-14gr is safe for my bullet?

Trying to get a little better performance from my 7.5" Ruger, but up until now all I had was titegroup and promo. I will stil be getting some H110 and 2400 when I can to play with.

THERE is a lot of HS6 data in the new Hodgdon 2014 manual and on their internet site for the 44REMINTON MAGNUM cartridge.

HS6 would be a fine choice for midrange to upper midrange loads in the 44mag.

The only load for 240gr I found was for a nosler JHP.

My 3rd edition hornady manual doesn't have any HS-6 for lead 44mag, but it does hs-6 for 44 special 240 grain lead semi-wadcutter. 6.6gr @ 650fps with max of 8.6gr @850fps.

When you do not have lead bullet data, use starting jacketed data & work up.

I agree, with that length barrel and Hodgdon's start load of 12gr for those jacketed 240gr bullets, you will likely be pretty close to the low end of your target velocity range with a 240gr lead slug.

It likely won't be the cleanest load you ever shot.
