I love my G-30. But sometimes I carry a 640 Smith with 110 gr. .357's. Love those revolvers. Just bought a Ruger SP-101 wit a 3 1/16" barrel. Double action without lighter springs give a very credible performance at poppers. I feel very comfortable with both wheel guns.

But I don't stray too long. For the same weight, six more rounds plus the ability to reload ten more easily makes me come back home.

There's something very comforting, and nostalgic, about a .357 Magnum revolver ... ;)

My Quad-Ported SP-101 DAO can be fired as fast as you can cycle the trigger, with virtually no muzzle rise, using regular 125gr Magnum loads. Still rearward recoil, which is very manageable, but hardly any noticeable muzzle rise due to the porting, which keeps it right on target.

I don't carry it very often, as I also yield to the allure of having 8-16 pistol rounds available before a reload is necessary. How in the world did I ever survive on patrol with only a wheel gun for all those years??? :)

Uh.... Nothing nostalgic about the .357 here. My agency arms us with Smith 686s w/ Trijicon sights. They are stoked with Winchester 145gr Silvertips. No complaints from the troops. My back-up is a Ruger SP101 .357 w/ spurless hammer. When I am off-duty, my Ruger .357 backs up my G30 :)

Nothing wrong with STHP in .357, brother.

The Smith Centennial is a great little revolver. Ahmmm, some folks have even been known to carry one as a backup ;)..

You could be in lots worse company.;c ;c

Eddie C., I too carry a 640 with an Express front site with tritium (from the factory, yet). Smoothe, but I do like the SP-101 3". G30 in dowtown ____ at nite, if in a suit. Dodge City.
