View Full Version : Best top/barrel/comp now for 9mm major?
I am going to take one of my full size (3 pin) frames and build a 9x19 open gun for USPSA (major 9 of course). What do you folks think would be the best barrel/slide/comp combination? I am thinking a 34 or a 17L slide with a ported barrel plus a comp, but I don't know who makes what in terms of barrels and comps, etc. I am guessing will probably be shooting a 124 gr. load, but I will have to play with the OAL to see what works.
TIA

Hi Fatdog,
Well IMHO the best slide would be the G17 because it will cycle faster. The best comp & barrel would be Tom Novak's set-up. Tom has the best comp hands down, he just made this new comp and ran some tests on a 9mm, works great. Tom's site is http://www.handgunneroutlet.net/ and there is a thread with pictures at http://www.glocktalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=155230 . Tom also does the best Docter sight slide milling job, the best sight to slide fit. I hope this will help you with your new Open class gun.
