Was shooting at the local indoor range this weekend and had a real peculiar thing happen; pulled the trigger and there was just a "click" and the slide moved forward a little bit! Nothing else! The slide actually moved forward about 3/8".
I racked the slide, unloaded, removed mag, check the chamber and left the firing line. We checked out the gun at the desk and the slide lock fell out on the desk! Tried to remove the slide and could not until we viewed a broken slide lock spring hanging in the gun. We finally got the broken spring out of the G30 and then removed the slide. One of the owners of the range is also a Glock Armorer; pulled his manual and checked out the broken spring. The spring just snapped at the formed bend where the spring is inserted into the polymer frame. Anyway I have a slide lock spring and a spare being sent to me in the mail.
A little note here and some of you may already be aware: the part number given in the manual for the slide lock spring should be verified. The correct slide lock spring for the G30 is the shortest one you can obtain; it is roughly .580/.625 long and generally has a side view that looks much like this ~
Anyone out there have this happen before and if you did is there anything else that you've learned should be replaced in addition to the slide lock spring? Yep, I did order another slide lock too although it looks fine.
